The HIGH temperature for OKC today is just 71. Again no complaints from me. The local pools hate it but I can't feel too sorry for them. The normal average temp is mid 90s and is often 100+

It is strange to go outside and see deep GREEN everywhere.

It is 83 out right now which is about normal for this time of year. Beats the 90's.

Burp.

The club board meeting was tonight. We had Mexican food. Tasty stuff. Free good food is a bonus. Well I had to drive to the south part of the city and it was a 75 mile round trip. So free minus the cost of driving 75 miles.

A dang deer tried to run into ME last night on the way home. The road near my house is 2.5 miles and the majority of the east side of the road is nearly a jungle. The treed and bushes come right up to and even encroach on the road. It is only trimmed back by big trucks. Anyway a deer was munching on some of the shrubs on the side of the road and it was weird because it was just her head and neck sticking out of the bushes.

I know that if I can see one deer another one is likely nearby so I slow way down. Sure enough another deer came running across the road and almost ran into the side of my fender but she managed to just zig over and run in front of me and just vanish into the bushes. It was like a magic act.

I think one family on the west side of the road feed the dang deer.

Glen, just curious, how big are the deer down there?

I wish would go and hypermile their head up their sphincter.

Also, when you have instructions that say:

1-Put the document on the scanner face up
2-press speed dial 1
3-press start

She didn't make it through the three steps before she was doing it wrong. How can you get confused and require a 20 minute session to explain it? OK, the 20 minutes included the rest of the steps and she did all but one of them WRONG! 10 steps and she gets 10% correct. The only one she got right Helen Keller could have done. OK, end of rant.

We are having beautiful weather right now.

blonde?

Once was asked by an engineer standing at the photo copier if it was face up or face down. The machine is plastered with cute little pictures on just how to use it. I told him to lift the deck stick his nose on the glass and press start and see what came out.

No, not blonde.

Too bad you didn't have a photocopy of the back of someones head for that engineer.

I was ready to walk away from this one. If you are responsible for peoples lives, you should be able to read directions this simple. I would hate to see her use the portable defib units here. She would probably stick it on her cheeks to see if it is working. I take that back, I might actually want to see that.

The deer last night was pretty big. About the same size as the California deer that attacked my car. I am not a deer hunter so I have no reference to how big they are as far as weight.

At a former job we had a chick working the front counter that was GREAT with people and all of our customers liked her. She was cute and had an astonishing (to me) ability to remember customer's names and the names of their family. She could see a car pulling into the driveway and know to go get the order he had placed on customers that came in once per year.

I was about to kill her when I tried to teach her how to write an invoice on the computer. It was a simple step by step process but it was a major challenge for her.

She came in my office one day and was mad because the invoice looked all blurry and streaked on the bottom half. I asked her to show me how she printed it. She hit the print button (so far so good) and the second the paper started to emerge from the printer she grabbed it and yanked it out because she was in a hurry. I suggest she hit the print button again and I stood in front of the printer and prevented her from yanking the paper out. Guess what, it printed fine.

I once had to explain to a man with a JD that up is not necessarily north when reading a map.

I was just curious. In North Carolina they aren't much bigger than a large dog. A local guy here exports deer to Texas to be hunted. They are bigger than the native deer there.

Glen, sounds like you needed the printer that was in the GBWR. It could print the bible in 65 seconds. Should have been fast enough for her. This was in the late 80s early 90s.

Yea, my story is from the early days of laser printers when 4 pages per minute was standard for small office printers.

My dad talked about a printer at the Pentagon that he used for a while in the early 1970s. He said everyone called it the whumper because of the noise it made. It was a dot matrix printer that would print the entire 8.5x11 page at once. One giant print head. He said two people were loading boxes of computer paper and two were moving the boxes of paper as it printed. He never could say what it was they were printing.
