What kind of cake do you get if you make it through customs?

If you don't make it through customs, you get a cake with a file hidden inside.

In honor of leap day I think I'm gonna go get a Starbucks mocha frap with extra Chocolate, then swing over to Dunkin Donuts and get a couple of Double chocolate donuts. That ought to be enough caffeine to get me leaping.

Good Morning.

The email users are coming to work and having troubles already this morning.
I've manage 10 help desk call before the 7am shift start. Luckily at 7 the calls go back to the regular help desk phone group. I graciously let them set it to my phone until the help desk people got to work this morning.

It may be a Monday, but it's also the last day of the month so I get mo money put in my bank account. Always makes me smile with the numbers get bigger instead of smaller!

Do you just laugh maniacally and tell em they are screwed. I know that is what you really want to do but that is not good for future job security purposes.

I was just looking at my pile of spam. Only 3462 in the quarantine list. They almost all come from the .top domain. Private Jet rentals? Really. Sure I am ready to rent a freaking jet and I going to do it from a spam message? Small Business loans? Really, what moron is going to go to spam message and log into some on-line place and punch in the financials of a company? What could go wrong?

Of course lots of them are for pills with no prescription needed. I am sure those pills are 100% legitimate and safe.

Kill the spammers, torture them and kill em slowly. And double that for the dumb folks that ever reply to or buy anything from the spammers.

No. That many are in the quarantine right now. Just over a hundred a day seems to be the average. 99% are the .top domain.

When I first changed my spam filter from Barracuda to Mail Foundry on my Zipbang email server. I called them and complained about getting 4 or 5 spams a day in my inbox. They said my account was receiving over one million spams a day at the time.

With this new spam filter I've gotten 400 spam in the last month. I'm sure my email gets a lot more spam than that, but that is just what it quarantines.

If I try to watch a movie and fall asleep not long after it starts and wake up just as it's ending, does that mean it's a good thing I didn't go to the theater to watch it?

morning all. Well today is the cap to 20 years here. Tomorrow I'll come back to the same place, same desk and start over at basically the same job.

How about your years of service for vested retirement and vacation earned time?
Will you get a gold watch?

I got rooked out of my gold watch. At 35 years we got a gold watch. Now I get some kind of choose a gift thing that is NOT a gold watch. Think I am going to pick the complete set of Dewalt tools. Beats a grandfather clock or camping gear, or watch that is NOT gold.

The gold watch thing is a real let down. I designed the really nice gold watch they gave out and now I don't even get one after putting in the time. Didn't want it to wear around, just wanted one because I designed it.

I really like my two different 928 watches I designed. Got two free $900 watches for doing the work on the first one. The guy that did the second $200 watches didn't put anything in the price for me despite all the design work so I had to buy mine. Showed him. When he wanted to do another one a little different, I just don't have time to mess with it. Other people have said they would do the artwork, but a few changes into it they quit. So there hasn't been another one. It takes a lot of time to come up with 30 or more watch designs for people to pick from. Especially since you know they are going to pick the first one you designed.

Yep, company email is completely copulated. Didn't use what I told them to use for outgoing server. We are already blacklisted.

Exchange on-line/Office 365 assigns it's own id for users. Moving them back to exchange 2010 with the tool the consultants moved moved them with killed all the sharing permissions and distribution lists. Aack!

No wonder it moved all the data so quickly.

The same thing is going to happen again when we move back to exchange on-line with the other host.

The 401k will have to be rolled to an IRA. The vacation time will roll into the new place that is now a use it or loose it place. This year I will get the 20 days from the new firm and the 80 house form the old firm. Next year 20 days that's it. I was 4 months from 5 weeks vacation at the old firm, now 4 weeks and not a day more.

We could have gobs of vacation. At one point I could take one day a week and at the end of the yer still have over 5 weeks of vacation. Then they limited us to a max carry over of 5 weeks. Since I had like 80 some odd days they grandfathered my carry over to whatever I had accumulated until I burned it down the the max carry over limit. Last year they changed to a different vacation management system so they paid me for everything over 5 weeks. It was like $12K.

I've already earned another week of vacation this year making my total 6 weeks right now.
It's weird to take vacation days when you work from home.

Interesting that even working from home I am recognized for Availability.

We also have a retirement bonus based on the profit each year that is put in our 401K.
If they make over 650K profit they pay the profit sharing retirement.
The amount we get to take with us if we leave is determined by years of service till you get enough years that you are 100% vested and can take all you have been given.

I understand Walmart does that. Except...when my oldest brother worked there he got laid off 2 weeks before he was 100% vested. Says it happens to enough people that there are 2 class action law suits per year that you can join because of it. I think the lawyers are the only ones that end up getting much from the suit.

That's a crappy deal, David. If I was to start my career over, I'd try like hell to not work for anyone but me. Not sure if that would be better, but at least I'd know right away what kind of a schmuck I was working for.
