My IT Director thinks you get to choose where your Office365 data is kept. Personally I think "North America" is just a little vague as I know there is more than one Microsoft data center in "North America." And know their datacenters are constantly moving data around. We ought to be keeping our own backups of that stuff and not relying solely on Microsoft. Especially since we are starting to use 365 groups and 365 teams crap that keeps online share point and one drive data for those groups and teams.

Okay I got a question...

We have our email in Exchange Online, part of Office 365.
There is a program that lets you automatically put signatures on people's emails.
It gets data from Active Directory (Office365) like their name and phone etc.
It seems really nice for standardizing signatures for our 700+ users.
The way it works is and email come is to exchange online submission queue it is forwarded to this app, the app adds the signature then sends it back to the exchange online transport queue to be delivered.

The network admin and new server guy that was an onsite exchange admin don't want us to go the feature becasse "It is adding a step that will break and keep email from being delivered."

First, the program runs in Microsoft Azure Online and has the reliability of Exchange Online itself.
Second, the company says works as part of email submission to exchange BEFORE any delivery actions are attempted so does not effect delivery.
Third, I can find nothing where anyone has had problems with it's uptime.
Four, if there is a mail delivery problem I am the one that troubleshoots and fixes it not them they are not the email administrator.

What do you think, is their concern really valid even though I can find nothing to support it?

I don't know how ours works here but the email signature is generated and put into the email for me by the system. Company wide they are all the same. I can send you one if you want, not sure you could tell anything from it but I can.

We used to have a client that is name was very similar to Dempster-Dumpster (Dempster is the man that invented the dumpster) and I just bet he was teased in high school with that nickname. His email signature was generated I feel sure. It was almost D.Dumpster and I don't want to use his real name.

I giggled every time I got an email from him.

David,
Do you see the signature BEFORE you send the email or is it added en route?

That is an email template.

Can't find anything that automatically makes a company template with the users info on it.

Richard, I don't see how they would have an issue any more than using a firewall that does anti-spam going out or email encryption. If it causes any downtime it would be minimal and would not stop the incoming emails. We have had more problems with our ISP than the mitm tasks.

I've only actually seen an owl in the back yard a couple of times. Once was when it was on the fence post hootin with Pepper. The other two times it was flying to and from the top of the cottonwood tree. Both were after dark. So think it would be difficult to snap a pic.

IR Camera?

A year or so ago we had one in our big spruce tree just outside the bedroom window trying to find a mate at 4:00am. Not much different than humans I guess. Maybe I should have offered it a drink!

David, you guys are on Exchange using Outlook?

Brent, that's what I think, but evidently two guys in our IT with zero experience are THE experts.

Seriously, our network admin (no caps intended) brings in a consultant to make small changes to our pix firewall and the server admin's only experience was that he was recently a 2007 exchange on-site admin. Our IT Director was a .Net programmer before our company. But hey, they all go to the right churches!

Okay, I finally found one. It's called Exclaimer. Distributes corporate signatures to Outlook Clients.
It only does Outlook of PC client though. No 365 OWA or Mac, or phone or tablets.
They do have a 365 version, but it works exactly like CodeTwo and only shows the user their signature in sent items.

Hey! I was a .net programmer at the place in CA. And C, C++, ColdFusion and doing all the stuff to tie their custom database into a SQL intermediary.

I am much better now.

But he was hired to be the IT Director 4 years ago with only the .net experience. Like I said, went to the right church.

I'm sure that if I would have gotten married, had a house full of kids, and gone to the right church (not necessarily in that order) I would be a company executive now. Oh yeah, would also have to drive a Ford.

Amen to that. That would be a deal breaker, to be forced to drive any specific make. Unless they bought it for me, I would be a little forgiving there. Especially if it were an older Ford. Like from the 60s and a GT moniker on it.
