fAfter my very first Autocross a guy in the PCA club sold me his extra set of forged lightweight 944 Turbo wheels with a new set of Goodyear R1s on them. Now those were race tires. Had just one groove around the tire the rest was slick. And yes they would pick up and throw stones.
Always went thru the routine of changing wheels/tires at home and drove to/from the autocross. Was driving them home from the race one day, as I was passing some people walking I about spun out. Think one of them spit on the street, LOL. Another time I was driving home and the streets were damp. Didn't think I was going to make it. Couldn't safely go over 10mph. After I wore the R1s out I went to Yokohama Wet race tires with the big but very few criss cross grooves. I liked them because you could still get some traction in a drift, the traction just kind of tapered off. They were what is called soft edged. The R1s just had gobs of traction until they had NONE, hard edged. It was like the difference between Bridgestone (soft edged) and Michelin (hard edged) in Formula 1 at the time. When I got the 928GT is when I quit swapping tires for autocross. Lazy pit crew just put on the stickiest street tires they could find and called it good. Don't think the 928 was made to autocross. I've melted several pairs of front brake wear sensors, even with the GTS and the big 930 brakes.

Pete, you are supposed to get the insurance BEFORE the deer hit!
When I hit the deer in California near San Luis Obispo, I called my agent right away. Since the deer was dead but off the road he said no need to call the highway patrol. He asked if I wanted my car towed home. I said no way, I will drive it if I can find a windshield. This was before I had a smart phone, so I asked him to dig around. He found a windshield place near my hotel in San Diego so I used packing tape to hold the windshield together and drove through LA traffic at rush hour. That was FUN!. They had me take it to three body shops and I picked the place that I knew was a Porsche specialists. They wrote a check to me. I paid the bill and had insurance company appraiser come look at it after it was fixed and they were happy it was done right. It is my only car insurance claim since 1978 when a lady ran a stop sign and hit my 914.

Our local independent agent has been the best so far for insurance.
The think I didn't like about the Goodyear tires were the "Not for highway use" emblazoned on the side should I have gotten into an accident.

My current insurance is with farmers and is a great value for my house because of grandfathered in features. However the 2005 Cayenne Turbo (primary) and the 1994 928GTS are 1950.00 a year. And the market value my agent shows for the 928 is 55K. Barely good condition according to Hagerty.

You need a new agent or new company.
When I bought the Cobra I was 26. Insurance was $325 per year (same as a town car ironically) for agreed value. It was not my primary vehicle though.

Agent is checking. Don't think she has any other collector cars.
Another Farmers agent I talked to told me they just use Hagerty as the underwriters.

With the recent cold spell I think my El Camino thermostat has stuck in the open position. I can't get much above 150 degrees on the gauge. I check it with my laser temp sensor. The water pump was 115, the heater hoses were 115 to 120 range. Only the exhaust manifolds showed any temp.
I stopped an bought a new thermostat. It came with the gasket. $5.99 whew. It is of course right on top. The slowest part is draining the antifreeze down to a level where I can get the thermostat off without losing half the antifreeze.

Almost didn't make it home from lunch with a low tire. Stupid Yokohama 22in tires were working like run flats cause it had zero air pressure and survived. Had to go to an oil change place. All of 3 of the gas stations with air pumps between lunch and the oil change shop had out of order air pumps. They only filled the tires with 36psi all round. Door says 44 front and 49 rear. Got appointment with tire guy Thurs morning to check them out. Hopeing I don't have to buy new tires right now, but they are 4 years old. Think is has a slow wheel bead leak on the one that went flat. Hope the tire guys can fix it and won't have to take it to a wheel shop.
Either case I need to get a new battery for my portable battery powered air pump so I don't have to rely on the gas station air pumps. AT&T is coming out to ruin...er, install internet tomorrow afternoon. Hope I don't regret it. Saving $95 a month will keep my hosting prices down but I sure don't want it to effect reliability and/or speed.

Good luck with AT&T. My business partner did the same basic thing. He already had an AT&T home account for internet. It had a cap on downloads, and not real fast. He went with the small business plan and no more cap on downloads and the speeds doubled, and the price went down. It is faster than my home version of Cox internet. I guess if my email service goes down I know what happened.
It is supposed to get above freezing today for the first time in 100 hours or so. Back no normal Oklahoma winter and no more deep freeze. I talked to one guy yesterday at the parts store that went down to Austin, TX for NYE. He said it started snowing at 11:30 in Austin and was rather surreal. He lived in Austin for many years and never saw snow.

Is his small business plan with AT&T?
att is claiming 50meg download and 10 meg upload which is what I have with cox business now. And with cox those speeds are obviously capped at 50/10 because I can bump it up to 100/20 or 150/50 for more $$$. att is calling this Pro Plus or something like that. If they install it and it does not get 50/10 or the static IPs are just assigning dynamic IPs as static, they can put the wire back on their truck. This is the first I've heard of att offering 50/10 or static IPs. I am very skeptical since a T3 line maxes out at 44.7meg and cost $3K/mo.

Think I'm becoming a hermit. Cars are in a heated garage and they have good heaters including seat heaters. The grocery and pet food store is just 5 miles away. But dern it, just don't want to get out an go to the store.

We are above 0* today. It is days like earlier this week I wish I had a remote start on the car. But then I would have to remember to turn the fan up when I get out when I get to work.
One more day this week!

Man this mental working thing is hard.
![]() To make the files in the precise format the client wants requires several complex steps, and then double check the results. The steps have to be done in a certain order or the results are NFG. All I can guess is it is a rounding error from the different conversions. I understand each step, but it is just a tedious pain to do it. Oh well that is part of my job.

If it were easy, they wouldn't have to pay you to do it.

Let's see...att was supposed to install business internet at noon today and it is supposed to take 4 hours. It is 3:30 and I have not heard a peep from them. Not very inspiring to say the least.
