I am happy and frustrated. New servers are here for the VM cluster. Hardware install went great. Software is not cooperating on the upgrade, but the day is almost over. I can start again tomorrow.

Z back together yet?

An early good morning, and besides...it's FRIDAY!!

Pepper goes to the groomer this afternoon. Which almost guarantees it is going to rain all next week.
Good thing she is trained to stop on the mat inside the door, get dried off, and present each foot to be warshed and dried as she comes in from outside.
It's the really important little things where training really matters.

My wife planted several milkweed plants in the gardens to attract the Monarch butterflies to lay eggs. Those of course turn into caterpillars that are hungry. We had several in the front yard and they stripped every single leaf on that plant off. It is nothing but stems now. So Mrs Carrera would haul the caterpillars to the back yard where she had planted more milkweed bushes. The back yeard is the domain of another hunger predator, the short 4 legged canine caterpillar sucker. He thinks they are tasty treats and slurps them down. Mrs Carrera is not happy about that so the dogs are restricted to the side yard and can only go in the back yard with supervision and a human caterpillar body guard.

Better get used to it. It is supposed to rain most of the weekend. I remember years ago about this time of year we had a major drought. A hurricane came up from Texas and sat over Oklahoma and dumped 12 inches of rain in a couple of days. All the lakes filled up and all the humidity brought more rain and we broke the drought.

This time we have no drought, and lots more rain. Better to have a little too much than none.

When flying back west in the evenings it is astonishing all the little man made ponds and big ponds and lakes humans have put in. They all reflect the sun and as far as the horizon there are few if any large areas with no ponds. Lots of fishing docks, and swimming holes.

It finally stopped raining here. No more mudslide warnings on the phone. 70s in the day and 50s at night for a few days. Lots of people coming over to kill each other virtually tomorrow.

I think more than a couple are going to get a rude awakening by Jacob and his Corsair Charlie and its 20mm cannons. Fortunately when we get to the newer stuff he doesn't know how to use the Fox1/3, just Fox 2. Of course in a a free for all he can just send an AIM-120 mad dog and not worry about fratricide. At least we get fair warning because he starts his evil giggle when he has a firing solution. Emily waits until after she shoots to giggle.

Will be heading to Carlsbad Caverns on the way to Austin in a few weeks. Hit Salt Lick (the good one) on the way by for lunch.

Hows the sailing weather Jim?

If you want to spend way too much on a matching chili bowl and spoon set...'

They are selling these at work for $10 with the profits going to benefit our employees that need money.

$10 isn't too bad really. Unless that is a 2oz bowl, then forget what I said.

I have eaten a lot of chili over the years. All of it with a standard issue bowl and spoon just like my wife eats her cereal from every morning. I was not informed I need a special bowl and spoon for chili. Is is OK to eat ice cream from that bowl?

I understand it is "for a good cause" but there are infinite good causes that want money and limited resources. Last week we had a charity car show. Several of the members did just what I did, and donated twice the entrance fee as their entrance fee. We took in a decent chunk of change and had zero overhead so it is 100% profit for the charity. The club did not make anything, but we did not spend anything, except a check that will have my company toner to print it on my company printer. And my company envelope. That will add up to almost 2 cents. We will not take a deduction for it.

My grandmother started donating to a few good causes, and almost overnight she was swamped with other charities looking for a handout. I have seen it happen. After a funeral of a friend I donated to his favorite charity in his name. I got mail from them for 4 or 5 years, and a lot of other charities.

Nice chili bowl and spoon. I hope it does well, I really do. I will pass however.

This charity is a fund for our own company co-workers. If a coworker has a catastrophic event the fund helps them out. There has been a fire, a couple of illnesses, and a couple disabled kids that the fund has helped with so far.

The bowls were really supposed to be part of a chili cook off we had at a block party a week ago last Saturday. Close the street in front of the company and have bouncy castles, a car show, other events including the chili cook off. You have to pay for anything you want to participate in, including vote for the people's choice in the car show. It is all to raise money for the employee help fund. They were just a little late getting in the chili bowls.

Don't go as a protest after found my 928 won the peoples choice vote but they didn't give it to me because it was a ferrin car.

Pepper is back. She got a trim along with her bath and looks younger. Won't leave my side. Smells funny though, kind of a light flea dip smell.

Gonna go play in the garage today. With mid 60s temps it is too nice to be indoors.
