Oh, I got the turn signal stalk rebuilt and put back together and tested. The new paint wrinkled on me on the end of the stalk. I don't think I like Duplicolor. Easy to fix, but I shouldn't have to.

Yep, in the crazy hot places it is just like the reverse of a winter, go quickly from the car to the building. Lots of things are done early in the morning or late at night in the summer. And no one needs a coat, or boots.
I would much rather have heat in the summer than any snow or ice. Shorts and t-shirt are just way more comfortable than jeans and jackets. And the bonus of certain women types in halter tops, and short denim skirts is just a total bonus.

When I worked out there I wore docker style shorts, polo and NB tennis shoes. White.
The problem with the heat is you can only take so much off and still be legal. With the cold you can always add a layer.

When I used to visit my parents in aridzona, I noticed that a lot of construction types and people who worked outside tended to start working early in the morning, and knock off by noon before it got killer hot. Made sense.
I wonder iffn that's why they don't play daylight savings time? I was there a few weeks ago but it was only 104. Spring. |

What is most astonishing to me, fashion seems to be more important than common sense. On a HOT sunny day, I see lots of people wearing black shirts, and black pants. Dressed like Johnny Cash, in the full sun is just stupid. Light colored clothes make a big difference. I sometimes feel like black shirts are 1/2 the market. Great in the winter, stupid in the summer.

Buenos Tardes, y'all. All this talk of temperatures sounds scary! When I got up it was 59 degrees. The high is expected to be 68. Still, by August & September, it should get hotter.

Dang it all to heck.
Going to Doc appt and a landscaoing truck pulled out in front of me. Couldn't stop fast enough. My right front corner hit is dually front wheeel. Whole corner of the Cayenne tore up, can't even see any damage on that big truck. at least it was his falt, but dang it!

Sammy, in EC they took the middle of the day off and worked early morning and then again early evening. I spent most of the time in AC when working. Either at the office, in the car or at a client's facility, but sometimes I got to tour a facility and some parts were outside. Shaded so only in the upper hundred-teens or low hundred twenties. Nothing like getting into a car at 180* or hotter inside when you get in the car to go home though.

Brent, there's no amount of money that could get me to live there!
 I just ordered a set of tires and a retro-looking stereo for the Z. The tires are Continental Extreme Contact Sports. I hope I like them at least as much as the Extreme Contact DWs that I had the '93 964 C2.

Would like to do the Cayenne like my ol Jimmy. Jack it up real high and put cattle and rock gurards on it. That way if it bumps into anything it just leaves marks on the other vehicle.
When I had the Jimmy someone ran into it from behind at a stoplight, It left a little spot of yellow paint on the trailer hittch, and from the windsheild forward on the buick was smooshed with water and oil leaking. A policeman was going the other way, stop and said out his window. Nobody hurt, Buicks fault, no damage to truck, I let you guys go without reporting it if you want. The buick guys didn't want it reported so the cop and myself just drove off.

Yea, you are unlikely to find a 4 inch lift kit and have the suspension computers happy. Most of the brush bars or "rhino" bars are just screwed to the sheetmetal and might protect against a shopping cart, but do nothing at all but fold up in a collision.
Back in the early 1990s, one of my architect friends bought a Range Rover with all options, even factory installed Rhino bars. Those were solid. They protected the turn signals and bumper. We teased him about maybe coming across rhinos or water buffalo on the job site. He was one of the successful guys that just wanted his stuff to be different. He also ordered two 1989 930 to have consecutive serial numbers, both in black, and loaded with options. It became an issue when the factory workers got the work order. Evidently is was bad luck to build two black cars in a row. He finally got the cars, and left them in pre-delivery state. After a year he sold one for a nice profit, and kept the other for a few years with just a few miles on it. So that income level type.

Policeman told the landscaping guy that since an officer did not see the accident, to call in a no guility plea, they would set a court date, but the officer would not show up and they would drop the ticket. Makes me fear their insurance might not pay for my wagon.

The brush bars on the range rover were just that...for brush. Anything else they would bend and actually cause more damage.
The Jimmy had cattle bars and would protect against a lot more as they were big and mounted to the frame. Looks like all there is for the cayenne is skid plates (and bumpers) and brush bars.
