They have sent two different repair guys. That doesn't mean either of them know anything though.

Their phone typically goes to voice mail. After the first time I called them of course.

piping iso's. The CAD program generates them but the designer always wants tweaks to fit his or her personal drafting style.

I really wonder if some big companies understand logic at all.

I have been using Quicken since the days of 5.25 inch floppies. I have financial files that go back into the 1980s, just because deleting them is more work than just leaving them alone.

With my new computer I was thinking up updating from the 2017 version I run new to the new and improved version. So I go to the quicken site, and log in, and look for upgrade. Nothing.

So I see the tech support number, and call it. Of course it is somewhere in India and a guy with a thick accent and a call center noise in the background, he says his name is Sam. There is no upgrade program. Buy it outright for the same price as new users. WTF, I did not expect some mega discount, but some sort of discount for long term customers.

He even suggested I go to Amazon to see the price. It is $44.95 per year right from Quicken for a 12 month subscription download.

Amazon had a 14 month subscription for $39.99 to download it. Better price.
The real kicker, I can get it on CD. A CD, put in a box and sent to me the next day is $34.88 for the same 14 month subscription!

My current 2017 version is not a subscription. I bought it way back then and have paid nothing more since.

Right on the Quicken site, if I log in, is a free download of my same version. So I downloaded it, and will install it and pay nothing.

Yep genius marketing on their part.

And why in the wide wide world of marketing is a physical CD mailed in an analog box, overnight, 10 bucks cheaper than downloading it right from the Quicken site and it is a 14 month not 12 month subscription?

Yep. Them software companies are nuts. Moving my brother from a company based Office 365 account $22/month to personal. Personal is $79 a year or $99 for 6 users (family). or he can buy Office for $219 and has to pay full price again if he wants to upgrade it. My brother does have a Mac so don't understand why he wants to pay anything for Office. Apple gives you compatible software for all the office apps and even opens and saves as microsoft files. My nephew that is the CEO uses the canned Mac software just fine despite having a company license to download all the Office Apps.

Went to the Adobe subscription for Photoshop because the monthly subscription is way less total $$ than upgrading even if you go as long as possible between upgrades. Still don't like the subscription thing.

Especially don't like Microsoft's online office licensing where you only used the apps on-line. No local software. You have to have internet access to open your files.

Yea, the Photoshop subscription is just a cost of doing business. We do use it, and with the new Canon professional cameras we use we have to have the latest RAW file import.

Some of the crazy expensive software we use for mapping is a subscription if you want to get the updates and improvements all year long or tech support. If we were stupid and did not renew, after a certain period they just make you buy in from scratch and not the "update" service.

We have on package that is over 35 grand to get going if we let it lapse. One of the other packages we use for some projects is something that you have to talk to tech support directly, then you run a program they send, it produces a code for that computer, and then they can activate that CPU. They are great, but sometimes it is cheaper to pay them to run the project and send up the final file.

Carp, going to have to get a new fridge. Seems the fan is a factory replacement, but doesn't actually work. The fridge is too old and no replacement parts. @$!#!!

The reviews for the space I have says Samsung. The service tech says he hates Samsung, too much electronic stuff. Says to get cheapest I can find. Samsung actually shows the fewest repair calls by manufacture online.

Good luck on a new fridge. They all pretty much suck for working very long. And the "good ones" and insane expensive.

You might ask the Pelican brain trust. Post a new thread, and ask the group.

Measured my fridge hole and can fit a 36" fridge even though my current one is only 33. Also found a water line I am currently not using behind the fridge.

Don't know whether to get white or stainless. My sink is stainless, by oven/stove is white, and dishwasher is black (original to the house, will be replacing sometime soon).

Stainless shows fingerprints and smudges. Of course for a meticulous house keeper like you it is no big deal.

Our across the street neighbors had their kitchen remodeled. They went with black appliances, and even the hood over the oven and burners. The guys that installed it of course could not levitate it into place so they touched it. That left fingerprints. She was livid and had tried everything to remove the fingerprints. She came over to ask my wife if she had any ideas, and my wife asked me. I said car wax. So I got some of my paint cleaner-wax and off we went. Wax on wax off, fingerprints gone. She almost kissed me but realized her husband and my wife were standing there. She went right to the car parts store and bought some. He husband suggested once she finished with the appliances, she could do her car. That brought out a rather dirty look.

Moring all.

Richard ever think that maybe he said not to get a Samsung because of its repair rating as in he will not be back?

I am uninstalling the program and files from my old computer. It is just hard to delete a folder of information and files that I have protected and cherished for years. It is all backed up to the new computer, and it is on a 5 drive RAID5 and secure, and I double checked the file sizes and number of files are correct, and working. It is still hard to delete the file from the old computer, even though I cloned the disk and the original dick is also sitting on my desk as well.

Ah well, back to deleting the duplicates, and uninstalling programs.

Did a bunch of looking on-line and seems the place with great service selling me my big screen has the best price. And they do free install and haul away.

When I was bedfast from stepping on that nail they came out, looked at the space I had, then installed a fantastic 65" Sony Bravia and hooked it up all my stereo and internet for all my video sources and surround sound.

My current fridge only goes down to 46° which is the max temp for storing my insulin. And the freezer stays at -10 so it makes ice and keeps my Keto meals frozen.

ARGHHHH

I hate iTunes!!!!

I bought my wife a new iPad Pro 11 inch for Christmas. Apple gave me a $100 gift card for iTunes. OK, I don't buy much stuff, but I can use it I figure. It comes as a email, and has a serial number and pin to enter. Sounds logical and simple. Then iTunes is involved. What a POS program. I enter the serial number and it just says invalid. I do a copy and paste right from the email. Same result. One option is to print the card to give to someone. OK, So I print it as a PDF, and copy and paste that serial number. NOPE. They will contact me with how to resolve the issue.

No doubt, in all the 30+ years of software I have used, iTunes is the very worst by a wide margin. I suspect I could call a guy in India that does not speak English and have a Chinese guy translate my instructions into Japanese and back to Russian and still make a better software package than iTunes.

Some Samsung units have issues with the ice maker. It doesn't seal properly and freezes up. Easy fix, but a pain. Ask me how I know. Other than that, it has been a good unit. I like the separate compressors and the water filter. We got ours scratch and dent and was 1/2 off because of a dent in the side of the freezer door. Kids put another dent in just after delivery so no big. (tipped a stool trying to get into the cupboards and it is french door style)

Glen, I have hated iTunes since it came out. It used to be a horrible resource hog and rather than start something new, they just put pig crap in a blender to make a smoothie instead of a sandwich not realizing pig crap is pig crap.

Yep, iTunes is the worst software Apple ever made. Understand it is going away. Understand Apple Music is different and great because of ability to find more similar music. Can you use that card to subscribe to Apple Music?
