My upload speed is faster than I am supposed to get. I am on the 1024 (gigabyte speed) that they just call the 1000 / 35 plan. I am getting 37 up, and almost 912 down is fast, but not the full 1000. I have a new router that arrived at 7:45 last night. I will install that shortly. I figure I will run one Cat7 cable right from the router to my computer to my 5G Ethernet port. And then run a Cat7 cable also to my switch. Then run a Cat6 cable from the switch to the Intel I219-V Ethernet port. I can test them independently to see the speeds, and then bridge them to see if there is any advantage. Then set up the wireless on the Wi-Fi 6 AX200, which is compatible with 802.11ax and the new router is 802.11ax compatible. Right now with the very old Apple Airport I only get 35 meg download and 37 upload. Weird to get fast up than down.

I need more POWER! Argh arf arf arf.

The new router is cool. I now have 4 different WiFi networks. I may kill some of them, but for now why not. I will put my wife on the first 2.5 GHz network, and I will use the 5 GHz network for my iPhone and the iPad in the garage. I set up a guest network, that has no access at all to my intranet, just the internet.

My WiFi speed is now almost 300 Gig per second, so a huge increase from the old old Apple router. I do have to admit, that Apple router worked perfectly for many years. And it comes with really really long power cord. I have to use an extension cord to get power to the modem and router. They come with little wimpy power cords. I guess that is the new normal.

The new router has one thing I will have to research. It has WPA2-Personal. WPA2 Auto Personal, WPA2-Enterprise and WPA2 Auto Enterprise. Right now I have it on just WPA2 Personal, the default. I may change to the Enterprise version just because it sounds more secure.

I have been busy with that work crap and building a monster computer, and now a super fast internet and network.

I just rolled 369,012 miles in the El Camino, Time for an oil change! I am a long way from the 10 minute fast oil change places. It only took me two hours!

BUT, I had to install a new grease cartridge in my grease gun. Dang, someone needs to come up with a simpler system than wrestling with the huge spring and screw it down and getting it to work. New oil and filter, and brake and undercarriage inspection. All the shocks, brakes, and suspension parts are good, the front tires are about to need replacement. Rear tires are fine and have lots of wear left. Somehow the 911 is the reverse of that wear pattern. Likely something to do with my right foot.

I am certain gravity has increased from the days of my youth. I used to get up off of the floor with total ease. Now the increased gravity of today makes it a lot more effort. "They" need to fix that increasing gravity before the gravity becomes overwhelming and we are all stuck to the floor. Bring back the good ol days of lower gravity!

Have my guest network so my guest (Brother Bob) can only surf, not access devices on my netowork, like my color laser printer. There is NO reason for Bob to print every freakin web site he visits! There is also no password. He keeps messing it up, forgetting it, and getting logged off and complaining. Turn my passwordless guest network off when he is not visiting. Even call it "bobs wifi".

Didn't have a password on my wifi until a couple of years ago. Neighbor behind me was connecting to my network instead of her own because she didn't know any better. Actually it was her home care nurses. It was much faster to connect to their local wifi than mine on the other side of power lines. Was surprised mine even showed up in her house.

My 2.4 and 5ghz are named the same so my 5ghz devices can talk to my 2.4ghz devices. You might note my 2.4ghz only goes 50/10 and my 5ghz goes 100/20. Tested with my iPhone.

I just use WPA2 personal. Don't think I need much enctrytion on my network traffic, just for login. The neighbor's nurses were the only ones getting on my network anyway.

On my old router my guest network was called "Hey you kids get off my lan!" and had a simple password for our few guests. Yesterday out in the garage I had to link my iPad that I use to play Pandora as my music source. I opened the WiFi app and there must be 15 WiFi networks in the area. I connected to my 5 Ghz network, and have a much stronger signal than I did with the ancient Apple router. The new router has 4 antennas sticking up and 6 lights either solid on or blinking. It lets me log the usage of any WiFi device or channel. It has several Parental controls that I have turned off. My iPhone new gets 300 Gig per minute downloads. Not bad for WiFi.

The 24 Hours of Daytona has limited TV coverage. I watched several hours last night, and they broadcast 4 more hours from 11:00 Florida time to 3:00 AM. Then coverage started again this morning at 6:00 AM until finish.

My wifi only does 100 because that's as fast as my internet. The only way I can check for higher speeds is send files back and fourth to local servers.

Just keep mine old ones because brother's main airport is on the opposite side of his fireplace from his TV/appletv Use one as a bridge to reach other side of fireplace. Keep my two old routers incase his extra goes belly up.

Been thinking about getting a new wifi router that VPN client installs on the router. That way my wifi traffic will be encrypted outside of my lan. Tight now the only VPN i can do for my AppleTV is DNS which lets me avoid geoblocking, but doesn't do much for traffic encryption, ie hiding my streaming or purchasing traffic so it can't be traced back to my IP. Not that it has been a problem because cox business has security software that blocks traffic back tracking.

I have thought of setting up VPN just to hide my internet footprint. The vast majority of my traffic is Pelican, Garage Journal, A little Face Book, and Google searches and most of the Google searches are spell checks of words I can't speeel. Or weird and obscure history searches.

Real dang boring for anyone to want to snoop out.

However, use a debit card with a specific account with only the money I am spending in the account.
Know you are supposed to be protected if you card gets ripped off, but this way they can only spend what is in the card account.

That sounds like the plot to Nightfall, Issac Asimov's award winning story.

We (the mean boss's wife and I ) went to Sam's today to make another fruit run. Sam's has a app now that I loaded on my phone. As we load stuff in the cart, we can just scan the bar code with the phone, and then when done shopping, swipe a bar to pay with a credit card. It then displays a square code thingy for the person at the door to scan. It emails me the receipt.

I just looked at the receipt to make sure it was all OK since this was the first time I had used the app. At the bottom they have a section of "suggested for you" items. I bought a box of granola bars that lasts me several months. The receipt had a bargain price on a case lot of 49 boxes for "only" $649.97 I don't think I need that many, and the bosses wife ain't gonna want that huge case of granola bars in the kitchen. We would have to fill up all the cabinets and throw out some dishes to have room.

I use my credit cards for all on-line purchases. I have one personal credit card and one I use only for business purchases. Both are set up to pay the statement balance automatically, that way I never forget, and I never pay one cent in interest.

I use my debit card for the small day to day purchases that I used to pay with cash, and I still carry cash for the purchases under 5 bucks. I have no logical explanation for why I do it that way except it seems easier.

I really should just charge everything on my credit cards as it pays me back 2% cash on all purchases. The debit card is like using cash.

Odd thing, my MiL went to the house Friday to help the kids with school and got stuck in the driveway somehow. Wife and I both got out just fine and I have the sedan with low profile performance all seasons. I did have to go ahead and back a few times to get a track started though. She either needs new tires or something. We keep telling her and her husband that winter tires are a thing.

Our daughter was home and so was the truck with the snatch strap. Would have made it easy to get unstuck. We also had chains at the house she could have laid down for traction.
