We had an interview yesterday and I could not finish the first question before he interrupted with an answer to a question that was not asked.

Yup.
And now for something completely different, my brother in law had a 10-15 minute part in the TV show Fireball Run. He was the one selected to talk about drywall/gypsum and mining. He was quite a different character in the show.

I was just watching a version of Jay Leno's show on YouTube.
This is what one can do with "Jay Leno" resources. Totally cool car. Everyone needs 1,700 pound feet of torque from a non super charged, Rolls Royce Merlin engine in a street car. Just a cool episode.

To be proper it needs the supercharger. They used a version like that one in some tanks.

In the clip he mentioned the tank engines were called Meteors, and were the engines that made less power, so they did not get to go in a aircraft and be called a Merlin.
That car has 1,700 pound feet of torque with no supercharger. He has a Merlin with the superchargers amounted on a stand and it has a prop, so he can run it. He was saying in 6th gear the engine running at 600 RPM is 80 MPH. The supercharger would not help much at 600 RPM. Just a really really cool toy.

A supercharger would help more than a turbocharger!

Yea, but that engine need more power like it needs more complexity or noise. If it was in a P-51, then yea, more power is always needed.

Well right now July is our wettest month so far all year. We are 3.5 inches above normal for the month. No one is complaining except the inevitable few idiots that drive into the water, and total the car and have to be rescued by the fire and rescue folks. Why would anyone drive into water? There is no way to know if it is 2 inch deep or 20 feet deep. Every year all across the country people die from driving into deep flowing water on purpose.

Always felt like my 88 944 Turbo S with a few adjustable suspsension upgrades and 280 rwhp, 16in tires on magnesium rims, and large disc brakes all setup and balanced was a formidable street/track car for the available tire traction.
![]() Was able to do a faster autocross lap than the turbo or supercharged 911s, and keep pace and pass a RUF on Hallett. Corvette club invited me to their autocross, then stopped talking to me when I FTDed them. The Corvette guy from work that invited me's wife said I was a sore winner when commented that I had not driven the perfect lap. I sold this car for a red 90 928GT that was 2 seconds a lap slower, but still the 2nd fastest lap times to the white 944 TruboS.

Drove thru What looked like some shallow water due to the fences on either side of a road. Was playing Dire Straights Down to the Waterline on the stereo. My nephew was hanging out the window to tell me if the water started getting deeper than the center of the wheel hubs. He said "It's" and suddenly the water covered the headlights on the lifted GMC Jimmy and came up to within an inch of the bottom of the windows. The Jimmy bucked againar it's own wave covering and uncovering the cold air intake behide the grill. The dirt road had gone much lower than the fence lines.
When we got out of the water I stopped and we jumps out an ran around the truck excited and yelling. We had made it without swimming. Water was running out of the panels of the truck. A guy came out on the front porch of a farmhouse we were in front of. He yelled, "What is going on?" we yelled that we just made it thru that water. He said, "I tried that in my jeep." and went back in his house. The water stopped running out of the panels, got in, it started, so we drove on listening to Dire Straights the rest of the night. Took it to an oil change shop the next morning, check all the levels, including diffs, and all they could find was the big air filter was still heavy with water. Put on a new air filter and drove on. It felt really weird driving along in water up to the windows looking out and sitting lower than the water level in the road, and flooding the fields next to the road. Went over a few low water bridges with the Cayenne S in 3rd Coast TX, But they were all marked and nothing was more than 12 inches deep. 12 inches being the upper ride height of the air suspension.

It only takes a few inches of moving water to push ANY vehicle downstream, even a train. Moving water is an astonishing force.
6 inches of water will move most vehicles. Two feet of moving water will wash away anything, even the heaviest vehicle. Obviously if it is just standing water and not moving it will just flood anything except an amphibious car.

My car is clean, and I need to run some errands. I have been hiding at home since Sunday morning. I was hoping for a break in the rain to get out, but it is coming down at .01 every 15 minutes.

Interesting it would seem that my IT is not in love with Getty. I get a little black box and if I right click and tell it to show image I get a pop up saying the site is blocked. Oh well.

I usually post pictures that are hosted on my own web server. Do post some from other public sites though. But try not to post those on sites that are selling images like Getty.
