I feel sure they gave us a real shot, we both had virtually no reaction to it. I am not complaining about that. I expected a reaction much like my first shingles shot of the two shots for shingles.

I had the original one shot shingles shot several years ago. Then they decided the two shot shingles vaccine was the way to go, so we got those. The first of two shots was a week of sore arm and redness, but no big deal.

The flu shot last fall was a few days of sore arm as well.

The Covid shot was a piece of cake. I had allergy shots for 20 years, twice per week so over 2,000 injections total. I would alternate which arm I had the injection in to spread the pain. One arm would just about get back to normal, and it was time for a new shot in the other arm. When they would up the dose every so often those hurt way more than the covid shot.

Good Monday morning all!

at 63 I was overdue for a Shingles shot.
So the wife and I got them last week.
Unfortunately according to the Covid vaccination nurse they had to delay my wife's covid shot a week because she just got a shingles shot.
Wife works for a hospital so she can get her Covid shot now, still not sure when I can get mine.

That to me is the crazy part. TO me if one person in the house can get it they all should. She may not get sick but she can bring it home to you and you have not had the shot.

Right now for regular folks that are not first responders or work at hospitals they are are working on the 65 and older crowd. It would be great to have a system to register couples like my wife and I that are both 65+, but they make everyone register as individuals.

If you are under 65, which is just an arbitrary age they decided to pick, you have to wait until all the vaccines are given to older more vulnerable people.

I know of three people now that are married, and one of the spouses got it, and one never did. Back in October the Porsche club went on a trip to Robber's cave an we had lunch in Krebs, OK. I sat across a table from a lady in the club I have known for years. My wife was next to me. She (not my wife) ordered meatballs that were huge, and she only ate one. She offered me the other as a leftover. She had not touched it, so I made a meatball sandwich for lunch the next day. I found out last weekend she came down with Covid two days later. Her husband never did get it. I have never been tested for it it, but I have had no symptoms of any sort.

Maybe she got it the next day, who knows.

Good point to vaccinate whole households with many family members at the same time.

I see the logic in that, BUT....

If those under 65 are getting the vaccine that is a dose that the more vulnerable older population does not get. It was decided that 65 is the magic age and they have to pick an age. Just like turning 21, there is no transformation of a person the day they turn 21, it is just the age we all agree it the age one can sign a contract, buy booze, and become a full adult.

65 is the age that was picked that people are suddenly "senior citizens" or elderly. Like every other birthday, one feels no different than the day before. Lots of people are married to someone much younger. Usually old guys with younger trophy wives. Just because she is married to a geezer why make her eligible to get a shot that some other 65+ person truly needs?

They (the government) had to draw lines and pick an age to separate the vaccine groups. I am glad I did not have to make those decisions. We all know the government is a very efficient and has our best interests in mind.

So, I leave work on Friday and it is mostly sunny. About a mile down the road is a torrential downpour of rain, sleet, snow, hail. Visibility is down to a couple hundred feet. 3 blocks later it was sunny again. about halfway home on the highway same thing for about 1/2 mile.

I also broke down and bought a Valve Index. The kids made me do it!

The boy was playing virtual fetch with a virtual dog and leaned over and was scratching its belly saying what a good boy spot was and our beagle started growling and carrying on. He could hear the dog and see the boy leaning over making the scratching motions with his fingers and talking but there was no dog for him to see. Hilarious.

How was all y'all's weekend?

Our weekend was fine.

What the heck is a valve index? It sounds like a scale that measures valves. We used to have oil field companies bring in valves that we would photography and "drop out" the background to solid white for their paper analog catalogs. One company asked us to photograph a valve and we told them to bring it in. He said it likely will not fit in the studio. So we loaded up the equipment and it was a oil field "Christmas tree" valve that was 15 feet tall. I had to photograph it in their foundry, and it was a challenge.

So on that valve index it was 15 feet tall and most were a few inches to a foot tall. I suspect you index is different.

Valve Index is a virtual reality set.

What is the valve lash on a 15' valve?

It is a gate valve, kinda like this one.

I don't think they have a lash.

Nice Elky there.

Black paint absorbs heat, so it will make any object hotter if the sunlight is shining on it. In the shade or at least out of the sun, no practal difference. In the full sun it is a huge difference. We had a guy in our El Camino club with a show car level 25 grand paint job in black. At one event his car was like an oven and mine was 25 degrees cooler.

I love my white one in the summer months.

Al every autocross in the summer when it is 90+ degrees and full sun I see lots of people all dressed in black with no hats. I never understand that. It is more about fashion for them than staying cool.

At one autocross I brought my IR thermometer that I use as a pyrometer to measure tire temperatures to make sure the entire tire is even in heat. We went to a black car that was parked next to mine and measured the roof of each car. The black car was lots hotter. I don't remember the spread in temps but it was a lot.

So yea, in winter a black car in the sun will be warmer. Not in the shade or in overcast conditions.

Morning all. Well I am round three and scheduled for 3/12 to be stuck with the vaccine. Next day is my 54th birthday. Which with my luck will be spent in bed.

With luck you will have the same total non reaction that I did.

I was living life on the edge for a while this morning. My old wireless mouse had a rechargeable battery that charged up with a USB cable. It was getting to the point it needed a charge every few days. I looked into how to replace the battery and they evidently start with the battery and build around that and it is a real chore to replace. It was nothing special, so I said screw it, let the company buy me a new mouse.

The new one is very precise and works with a a USB dongle or Bluetooth. I never could get the Bluetooth to connect to the computer so I used the dongle. I have a ton of USB ports on my computer so that was no problem.

I did find a real issue. If I plug in a any USB device the new mouse stopped working, except super erratic. I had to dig the wired USB mouse from my closet to use on my computer, that is a pretty poor work around. So I started digging.

The easy things did nothing. I went ahead and upgraded the computer BIOS, which is always a bit unnerving, and that did not cure it completely. I had to uninstall the mouse and install the new latest and greatest mouse driver from the mouse manufacturer.

During the BOIS update of course the scary part is waiting for the first reboot. It came up with some of the setting set back to default so I had to play with those settings.

Golly computers are fun.

Yep, hump day is here. I often find myself wondering what day it is when I am taking a shower and sometimes I find I was a off by a day when I put n my watch or look at my phone.

We are quoting a customer a price to fly a ranch for their client. A nice quaint little place, that will take most a day to photograph it. One ranch is 600 square miles all by itself. There are two other sites. I am just glad I don't have to mow that yard!
