Wife sitting outside on the portico enjoying the snow scene. We only get snow a couple of times during the winter, especially since we're only at 3,400 ft. elevation.

In the past I have hit brick walls with regular customer service. Those folks get paid the same regardless of customer happiness. I will talk to customer retention. I just call the switchboard, and one option is to cancel service. Customer retention people have the power to had out discounts, and they are paid for keeping a customer to stay as a customer. They want my business.

I give kudos to the employees that tried and were good at the job. I will let them know that the dispatch sent me two incompetent dummies, and sent them with no equipment. Those folks need more training.

well off to the doc at 11. Seems like it was a bad idea to let a 16oz glass jar of peanut butter launch itself off the pantry shelf and use my foot as a place to land. Not sure but one two might be broken.

We have clear blue skies and a large really bright thing in the sky and 60 degree temps. I like it!

We did get .66 inches of rain overnight.

Not a great plan without steel toe boots on.

One of my friends said he was at some friends house back when he was young and still smoked, and they were smokers as well. They were all standing up, and he picked up a glass ashtray full of butts to put his cigarette out. It slipped out of his hand and he tried to use his foot to stop it from slamming into the tile floor. He ended up drop kicking it against the wall and it exploded into a shower of glass and cigarette butts. They all turned to look at him like WFT was that for. He said he was horrified and he ended up painting that wall for them and cleaned up the mess.

Now they laugh about it. At the time it was not real funny. Imagine someone drop kicking an ash tray full of butts against your living room wall just out of the blue.

Did the peanut butter jar survive?

I hope yer toes are OK.

The jar survived at this point. After the doc visit it may be dead.

Just go drop kick it as far as you can with the other foot, and have a matching pair!

Or consider it gourmet $$$$ peanut butter with the cost of the doc visit and rehab included. It likely will taste extra good.

Likely keep it elevated to reduce pain.

When I was a kid I smashed my big toe in 6 places. I knew I was in trouble when 4 large orderlies came in with a doctor. He had a Bunsen burner, a heavy needle. One orderly each held down an arm and shoulder, and one on each leg. The doc gave me a stick to bite on. He heated the needle to cherry red, and touched it to my toe nail and it was instant wonderful release from the pain of the blood throbbing under the nail. The blood squirted a long way, and I was almost post orgasmic from the pain relief of the pressure. The doc then proceed to put me in a cast up to me knee to immobilize my ankle and prevent any pressure on the toe from walking.

I did get a tortured toe award from my parents to show their sympathy and support.

ouchy. Mines not that bad. I felt better when it was not attached to the other two but if eft alone it would heal in the wrong position.

OK, now you need to weigh the peanut butter jar, and measure how high up it was. Did it fall with just gravity, or did it have a real push. Was it straight down or on an arc, then calculate the force it applied to your toe. Then you will know the just how much force was applied to break your toe.

The answer, is simple, too damned much!

you got that right. I think I should teach the jar a lesson and let the dog have it.

Not yet!

Yet another guy came over yesterday. He did not have one cable card or tuning adapter with him. He looked at some readings on his fancy meter, and said that Tuesday was the "warehouse day" and he could pick up some cable cards and tuning adapters and see if those will pair up and work.

If this does not solve it today, I will call the corporation commission that regulates all utilities. They have a big stick, and can make utility companies take notice. One of my neighbors had problems with her natural gas connections and the gas company was not doing what it was supposed to. She contacted the corporation commission and had instant results. I may also send a letter to the FCC. It is the federal law that the FCC enforces that requires the cable companies to provide service to Tivo and other boxes.

Still no TV!

They finally quit sending out the regular repair guys, and sent a supervisor that has actual first hand experience with Tivo. He too went through the same tests, and got the cable card to pair, but it never sees the EMMs they send. The EMMs are Entitlement Management Messages and they are the basic frequencies of the different TV stations. No EMMs, not stations, no TV.

He is going to send another tech to "The Node" in magic cable TV land, and try to trace the issue there. Somewhere someone changed a bit or a byte or a physical connection and it is like a mad wife, and not going to talk, and if you don't know why, she ain't gonna tell you why, cause she ain't talking until you figure it out.
