Pup would have been 13 in May. They found a mass on his spleen last August but we decided not to operate cause of his age. He made it another 8 months but it has spread to his lungs. He stopped really eating last Friday that's the only way we could tell something was up.

Condolences.
That's the same aga and how my last golden, Camber went. Her's was on her spine. She quit eating because she could not move her back half or control of using the restroom. Hit my Mom with dementia really hard. Mom went to bed and refused to get up. Took Mom and got another puppy, Penny the very next day. Turned out to be a real blessing. Mom started doing and remembering things she hadn't done for over 5 years so she could take care of Pepper. Pepper now wakes me a night if my blood sugar starts dropping. Would highly recommend getting another puppy. Went three months between my first Penny, and 2nd Camber. Would have been a lot better if I hadn't waited. Probably since I had Penny for 17-1/2 years. Still miss her.

Sorry to hear about your loss David.
The flight today was bumpy, but not too bad.

Joke of the day,
During a visit to a mental hospital, I asked the director how do they determine if someone needs to be committed. "Well," said the director, "we fill up a bathtub, than offer the patient a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket then ask them to empty the bathtub." "Oh, I understand," I said. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's the biggest." "No." said the director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

![]() I got curious about the little bitty Allen wrench. It looks more like a .050 mm. So 5/10 of a mm I guess (0.001968504 inch). The amazing part is they could stamp it with numbers. It looked more like a 090 with just eyeballs, so the trusty and ever handy iPhone comes to save the day. It does not matter to anyone else, and it sure solves no real problems to know for sure. But I just wanted to know what size it was. I ma a fountain of useless information. We flew the airport where we keep our airplanes. The two on the ground were both in hangars, and we were in one of the leased 172. They will be going back to the leasing place soon. It will be nice to get rid of the two expensive toys. The project we had to have them for is done, and we don't need to keep them anymore. The 172s have been handy to have around, but they are like using a 30 year old rental car. Mechanically sound, but flat out ugly, and beat up. They have had a lifetime of being used as flight trainers. Lots of different sweaty men have been in there. We spent a lot of time just cleaning up the interiors. They will go back cleaner, and in better shape than we got them.

Way too big to be .0019" (just under 2 thousandths). A piece of paper is about .004" thick. I'm thinking that hex key is .050", just under 1/16" Last edited by sammyg2; 04-03-2019 at 07:35 AM.. |

When my vision was knackered often used my iPhone as a maggot frying glass. Used to have an app for that too. Thankfully I can see much better now, May need to resurrect the app to be able to read fine print though.
That hex key is tiny, but .050 mm? That would be .0019 inches. There are plastic tarps for painting thicker than 2 mil. A typical English hex key set goes from .050 inches to 3/16 inches so going to confidently say inches.

OK, I have to agree, I thought it sounded wrong.
So it is usually called 50 thousandths I presume. Some engines get a 30 thousandths overbore and 50 thousandths is considered about the limit without having overheating issues. That all makes sense. I still wonder when I bought a set of tiny Allen wrenches. It must have been long ago, when Sears had the best tool department I could go to and spend hours slobbering on tools. The good news is I had them right in my workbench drawer where they have been for over 30 years.

Have two sets of Bondhus ball end tip hex key L wrenches. One engrish, one metric. Got tired of digging in Dad tin box of 100 assorted hex wrenches. Dad never said anything, but noticed his hex box got religated to a very out of the way bottom of a drawer.

Believe it or not, the harbor freight ball-end hex key sets are really good!
Hard enough not to round off, flexible enough not to snap off or turn into a twist drill, and cheeeep. I love the plastic holder thingies, makes it easy to find the right size (after trying the one that's too big and the one that's too small).

That's what the two sets I have look like. They say Bondhus on them and there was no such thing as a Harbor Freight when I got em. There was a place called Steve's Wholesale Tools though.
No idea what they costed. Think I got them at the model airplane shop when I was building and flying R/C planes.

Dang it. It looks like my mean boss is gonna make me mow his yard. All I get is some water, and a beer when everything is all finished and put up. The first mowing of the year is always a pain. The bermuda is still mostly dormant, so many bas of dead grass to bag and dispose of.

My chore today (after work) is get the oil changed in the tractor so we can start hauling branches and put the grass feed spread. Then lube the deck and sharpen the blades. I think I can put the summer tires on the truck also so I should grab those out of storage. Tonight is the only night free. Have dance tomorrow, a party put on by one of the dance class members Friday (no kicking the daughter that night) and then the daughter has solo and ensemble 45 minutes away on Saturday and that schedule isn't out yet.

Get off my lawn!

Phew, golly that was fun. The yard is edged and mowed.
All the equipment fired right up. The year old lawn mower took two pulls, the 30+ year old edger started on the first pull, and the 12 year old two cycle string trimmer took 6 or 7 pulls. I need to get a new spark plug for it and clean the carb. My brother saw he neighbor had put a fairly new leaf blower at the curb. He wandered out, grabbed it, and took it to his work area. He cleaned the carb, but new gas in it and replaced the spark plug with an old used one he had on a shelf. It fired right up. Old gas, gunk in the carb from the bad gas, and a spark plug that looked like one of the ones sold on the infomercials. It was just not right for a two stroke engine. He saw his neighbor and asked if he wanted it back. The neighbor had already bought a new one. So my brother will keep it and sell it at some garage sale.
