Only no 18 wheeler, a 747, and no southern sheriff chasing, just ISIS.

Watch out for the SA-7 coming at you.

Way back in the day one of the Air Force One pilots thought they were being attacked and began severe evasive maneuvers only to find out it was a flight of fighters sent up to escort them. Oops.

Yeas ago one of the companies we worked with a often, had an old time very experienced pilot that had flown aerial photo mapping missions for over 50 years. He missed a temporary flight restriction when President Bush was in Air Force one. He clipped the corner of the TFR and jets were scrambled.

He was in a Cessna 206. He saw the first F-16 as it blasted past. He going into a head wind and had a ground speed of about 80 knots speed and watched as they would scream past in a blur. They finally got his tail number and asked where he was going. He said he was about to land at his home airport and they were on the ground waiting for him.

He explained he made a mistake, and he only clipped the corner of the area going away from the POTUS. In the end he got away with just a bunch of FAA scrutiny and he had so much experience they admitted a TFR that just pops up because the president wants to go somewhere different is pretty easy to miss. So no big deal that time.

One other time he was flying some islands off the coast of Texas and Louisiana and got a little too far out of the country, and the coastal defense thought he was trying to sneak into the country. Once again he had fighters scream past him. He had a full flight plan, and his route so they said he was fine.

Have had a car go screaming past me when on the highway. Then 3 cop cars in pursuit. After going over a couple of hills the car was in the ditch with several cop cars around it and all the mexican occupants face down on the ground around the car.

One of my buddies has a son that was the typical dumb teenager. He saw a car chase with cops flying after a speeding car. He figured he would just follow along to "see what happens" and he got to see and experience it up close and personal when the cops handcuffed him, and impounded his car and took him to jail. The cops figured he was involved with the crime. They could not conceive of anyone just joining in the chase out of curiosity. They charged him with several counts of running lights and stop signs, and speeding and reckless driving. Stuff only the cops get to do whith lights and sirens blasting in emergencies.

His dad bailed him out, but the kid had to pay all the fines, and pay for a lawyer to talk to a judge to get some of the charges dropped, and he had to pay for the bail costs. In the end he agreed it was a really stupid idea.

Everyone asked him the same question, What were you thinking? And all he could say was I don't know. So he did not even know what he was thinking, just acting. His own dad told him he can't go through life acting stupid.

Wow, I am now a Professional Sam's shopper!

My business partner and I both go to Sam's a few times per year, and we have bough many thing for the company, and for ourselves. We had a "business" account and all was cool. Sam's decided to change thing around, and eliminate the business account, and either have a standard account, or the Pro account. The pro account allows us to shop from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM before it is open to the general public. There are a few other benefits, but mostly is cost $140 instead of $85 for my card and his card, and one for his mom.

So I went on line to renew and upgrade it. Nothing I tried would let me upgrade. The bosses wife said we need to make a Sam's run so I just brought my paperwork, and told the customer service, I want the same three cards, only upgraded to Pro. She could not make it work either. So she just killed the old account, and built us an new account. She had no idea why it would not upgrade. Oh well.

OK, guys, make a guess what a factory remanufactured engine cost for our 2004 Cassna 182T and the T is not for Turbo, just the model number. It is a 6 Cylinder, 540 cubic inch air cooled engine that makes 240 HP, and has a redline of 2,400 RPM.

The good new is we expect to get over two more years from our engine before it has to be replaced.

And our current engine has to be shipped back as a core for the remanufactured engine. Of course it has to be a good rebuildable engine we send back.

Wow, no it is not a jet engine. the entire airplane is "only" 250K. Think of a 964 engine rebuilt to factory specs by Porsche. That sort of range.

Last time I looked a rebuilt Lycoming that size was $32-$38k plus the core. Roughly 2000 hours BMOH on those usually.

Ours will be 47 grand.

The engine is very basic and unchanged from the designs of the 1950s. It is fuel injected so that is new from the original design. And it has twin spark plugs, and dual magnetos and lots of oil. It looks a lot like a 911 engine, only designed for low RPM and the large fan is out front spinning to keep the pilot cool. If it stops spinning the pilot starts to sweat a LOT. It also cools the engine.

The valves are huge, and of course the pistons are giant.

At the last place I worked, that company owned a 1965 Cessna 206 that they bought in 1969 for $17,000. It had a factory hole in the belly for the camera system. We put 15 engines on it in the years of flying it. The airframe was closing in on 15,000 hours.

It was an old work pickup truck for the air. It was UGLY, had faded paint, and totally worn out seats. It was mechanically perfect. The main pilot for it was and still is a very meticulous guy, and he makes note of any issue, and fixes it unless it needs a A&P mechanic to fix it.

Ah, fuel injection. Nice to have on those. That explains some of the price difference. Conti or Lycoming in the Cessna?

This is the place we usually get them.

https://www.airpowerinc.com/

I think it is a Continental. After buying 14 engines and all of them went over TBO, we like their work. We had one engine on the 206 that was running perfect. It had great compression on all the cylinders, and no leaks or issues at all. The mechanic that signs his name on the log book would not sign off on it anymore. And he was not even the guy that did the engine swap. It was simply the FAA requirement.

Oh boy, we had 4 people type in their credentials to a phishing email link to a web site last week.
The number of emails is set so high they each sent out 500 spams before being disabled.
I had it set to 15 and it disables their account cause we use groups and banana tag for mass emails.
Don't know who turned it back up to 500.

Drug tested positive for oxycotton (the pain killer for my gut lacerations and bruising), and had to prove my prescrtipion was current and filled before the test date.
Am home on medical leave so should not have been tested at all.

Trying to decide on a CayenneS or Base. Base is 6 cylinder, 0-60 in 8 seconds, S is 8 cylinder, 5.3 seconds. 1 mpg difference otherwise same.
