Hey, TGIF!

For the retired folks there is no more TGIF for you.

I am just happy we finally have a new house cleaner lady. The lady that did it for 18 years shut down her cleaning business, and got a full time job cleaning at a commercial building. So we had to do it a few times as we looked for a replacement. We thought one lady was the one, she interviewed and even came to see the house. She was supposed to be here last week. She called had had a plumber at her house and could not make it. OK, reschedule. She was a total no show for the rescheduled day, and has not responded to several text messages.

So now we have a new lady and we will see how she does as a house cleaner. At least she showed up.

Showing up is always good.

Last day of work from home for me. Sucks as here I have three 27" curved monitors to drop all my development stuff on. I have two small crappy monitors at work. OK, they are small and crappy compared to home.

Daughter is in Colorado for her AmeriCorps training.

The new cleaning lady did great for most things. I told my wife we may have to fire her. She put the seat down on the toilet in MY garage bathroom! There is a sign glued to the top of the tank that clearly states "This toilet seat to remain up at all times except if in use". It was a clear violation of the rules.

My wife reminded me that if we fire her I get to start vacuuming again so I am warming up to giving her a second chance and just a verbal warning and a note in her permanent record. Some things are just not allowed in my garage and that is one of them.

Just spring load the seat like the ball park and you are good!

Remember flying my R/C planes with a nice steady wiind above stall speed of the plane. Did VTOL take offs and landings. Event some take offs and landings rolling bacwards.

i had the alerons programded as flapperons so could roll around with the plane stuck to the ground. Point it into the wind, flip the switch to put the flaps down from up, and it would shoot up into the air.

My first housekeepers broke both my vacuum and clothes washer. And it smelled for a few days, all they knew how to clean with was a full galllon of bleach. The girl that replaced them is more than just a house cleaner, she is helping me recover from my stroke. She cooks also and makes me work out. She has even taken my golden to the vet to get her fixed and is helping with her recovery as well.

Yesterday was the last day of my home therapy. That means the therapists think i can safely take care of myself. The occupational therapist kept saying she wanted to see me take a shower. I said if i had to shower naked in front of her, she would most likely have to show me how to wash my junk. Physical Therapist said in about another month ask my doc to send me to out-patient therapy because by then I should be able to drive again.

I had to switch to heat mode on the thermostat. Major effort, push a slide switch from cool to heat. Phew. Sure beats chopping word and lighting a fire. It is down to 52 outside, and it was 71 inside. The bosses wife demands a minimum temp of 72.

Today is the "Motors in the Morning" event at the Porsche dealership. The last one of the year. Free coffee and donuts, and I can do something rare for me, stand around and look at, and talk about Porsches.

I will still be wearing shorts for at least one more day. Tomorrow is supposed to be misty, and even colder and may require (gasp) getting out the jeans. Argh!

We do have most of the week after that back to shorts weather but next weekend is is really starting to sound like fall weather will return.

My helper brought over some of her friends to make decorations for a baby shower. Not sure what happened but there is glitter everywhere. I think some of them must be strippers! Since I am not married or dating it doesn't really matter but my hardwood laminate flooring is now sparkly.

Did they install a new "exercise" pole in your house for you?

Back to Monday.

Today is the coldest day we have had so far since last winter. 42 degrees and overcast and the high is forecast to be in the mid 60s. I decided to give my jeans a test run for the day. Tomorrow is back to warmer temps for a week more.

The dealership on Saturday they had a nice 911 that was two years old, and had less than 2,000 miles on it. Evidently someone came to them and asked if they would buy it, and they did. Someone out there bought a new 911, owned it for two years and drove it less than 2,000 miles. I simply can't understand that, but there are a million possibilities as to why someone would do that. Two Porsches in 46 years seems right for me. Of course that does not count the Macan in the garage even though my name is on the title. It is the wife's car.

Yuck. Frozen water falling from the sky in any form at all is bad.

Yes, but freezing rain is the worst. Snow that does not accumulate is OK by me.

Yea, freezing rain really sucks. BTDT.

We had one day when the freezing rain was 3/4 inch thick, and then it started a very light rain, nothing is slicker than wet ice. It was so slick it was almost impossible to walk. It took me almost two hours to make the normal 12 minute commute. I parked the Elky in front of the house and turned the engine off and put it in park and the car slide sideways 6 inches and bumped into the curb. I had to walk on the yard to get up to the front door and get my ice spikes just to be able to walk. I threw down ice melt on the driveway and 60 minutes later got the cars into the garage.

It was still in the 90s this past weekend. Mid-October, and I'm still thinking: Better get out there and mow the grass, before it gets too hot to do so.
