We had a normal drive to Enid and back today. Party time.

Helper invited me to thanksgiving dinner with her family this year.

Don't think I'd be very comfortible at my own family dinner since they laid me off after more than 40 years working for the family business.

Getting ready to go to the last autocross of the season. The temp is nice, bu it is forecast for 25-35 MPH "breeze" today. Enough that I am wearing jeans in 62 degree temps.

Phew, big turnout for the last autocross of the year. Nice temps but it was indeed a big of a breezy Oklahoma day. 35 and 40 MPH winds made it hard for skinny people to walk around. I had no issues with the wind for some reason.

One other guy showed up in a 911 SC so I was not the oldest car or the only air cooled car. He brought his wife and two boys along in the 911. He had never in his live done an autocross or anything like it. We did set him up with an instructor. I am far far away form a hotshoe, and I just go to have fun. The FTD was a 43 second time. I ran a 50 flat, and the new guy was at 69 seconds. He said he felt really fast until he saw the times of the fast drivers. I just wish it was the "good old days" and I could have given him a ride in my car to show him where he needs to pick up time. If he keeps coming he will get a lot faster.

Monday is here. I was glad I wore my jeans yesterday with the crazy winds we had. I am even more happy to be back to shorts and an old free tee shirt. Our company uniform.

In Enid my BIL and SIL came over for lunch. He has 118 work days until retirement. I think it is 46 year he has worked there. It is the only job he ever has had. He started right after he graduated from high school. He is the longest term employee in the entire company. Over the years the company has many different owners and the only real change was the logo on his paycheck.

My company uniform is usually a pair of Skechers, track pants, and a tee....I'm enjoying it while I can because I know in a few years I'll end up somewhere that expects me to dress 'civilized'...

Oh man to know you might have to dress up is criminal!

One of the big projects we were part of was flying the damage after Florida's last major hurricane. We had to have special permission to even be in the area, and headquarters was an airport with no electricity due to the storm. Most of the other companies there were from large corporations and all the pilots had to have on pilot uniforms and look professional. It was 100 degrees, no electricity, and they were sleeping on the floor in the FBO on inflatable mattresses. My wife's aunt and uncle lived a few miles from there and they had electricity. So my business partner stayed with them had a nice AC comfortable bed, warm breakfast, coffee, and felt great.

He put on his standard hot weather "uniform" of an old tee shirt with the sleeves ripped off, and shorts, and flip flops. He came into work all fresh and ready and all the others had slept on a air mattress in the heat and, no shower for days, and no coffee, yet they had to put on the pilot uniform. They were not happy.

That is when we decided that corporate policy was shorts and t-shirt for company uniform. Of course we wore that same thing before then, but that made it official!

One thing for sure, Oklahoma need to open up the deer hunting season to more people, and a longer season. On the 100 mile trip up to Enid and back we saw 7 dead deer going up, and 8 coming back. Several black gooey looking spots that were likely deer hits. The state does a god job of picking up the dead deer and all of the ones we saw looked fairly whole, and not eaten by coyotes.

Many tens of thousands dollars of damaged cars, and likely many human injuries for the deer.

Fortunately, I was in the Rover and the brush guard did its job.

My Rover btush guard would not have damaged anything bigger than a cat. Think the idea was to just push things out of the way.

Rover at least understands brush guards, or rhino bars from the factory.

One of the former co-workers hit a deer when he was on the highway doing 70. The entire front end of his suburban was smashed. He got it fixed since it was a new car. He then found some shady people to come mount a brush guard on his suburban. They used sheet metal screws to screw it to the bumper. It might stop a bug or a small bird but it would be useless against deer.

This isn't a factory brush guard, but it's beefy and it's welded to the frame.
I only hit the little bastard at about 30...he stumbled off into the woods. Those damn things are resilient.

Looks like Ahmedinjad is gonna run again. If the Guardian Council doesn't disqualify him this time, he'll likely win.
I don't think a Biden administration is going to be able to handle another Ahmedinjad admin. Khamenei and Ahmedinjad have their differences, but neither is going to consider Biden's plan for even a second...it's literally an insult in their eyes.
This is gonna be a fun for years for crackers with guns on contract in the ME.

The one that tried to kill my wife and I in the 911 tried to jump the 911. It missed and landed on the trunk, bounced off the windshield, and over the car. All the damage was from the windshield forward.



We were 100% unhurt. The car protected us, and I had it all repaired to like new. Just the ultimate bug hit.

I hit one with my Ramcharger. Similar setup to Joe with the guard on the frame. I have used it to move small trees that were in the way. Anyway, the deer bounced off of that and rolled around the passenger side and folded the mirror in and left a butt print on the door.

I hit one a few years ago with the Durango. Broke the headlight and dented the fender and was still $1800. A whole herd crossed in front of me at night. I hit the smallest as there was no way I would stop in time.

Another time, driving my parents and sister and brother in law home from Thanksgiving a herd crossed in front of us. We were in a sports sedan and even though we would not have stopped in time I treated it like a rolling chicane. Missed all the suckers. Mom, of course, did not enjoy the ride.

There are about a dozen other near misses, but that is part of driving in WI.

About 5 miles from our house a couple were killed when they hit a horse. Another couple were nearly killed when they hit one, but they were still going fast enough it landed in the back seat, crushing the roof.

And then there are skunks.
