We we first were starting up, we looked at some offices. we quickly realized neither of us felt any desire to get up, and drive to an office just so we can look at each other.

My business partner fully got into the role of working from home when on one Friday, he got up, made coffee and sat in his pajamas in front of the computer and then lost in the project. When his girlfriend came over at 5:00 PM for a date, she insisted he go take a shower and put on real clothes to go out to dinner.

I always take a shower and get dressed, even if it is just shorts and t-shirt and socks. I did some book-work on the company accounts, balance the accounts to bank statement and write up invoices and send out Statements, and send another "proof" of a print layout for a client. Hopefully the will will say GO and I can make the print files to get the project finished. Phew had day at the office.

we get nothing. With everyone working from home the gas, power and water bills have gone up. Not to mention I had to bump up the internet to unlimited to cover all the data being used. Last person to bring it up was told to think of all the gas you are saving. He quit and let them have it at the exit interview.

I hear lots of people being told the expenses going up is offset by the using less gas. What about those that drive electric cars and those that commute with others to work? I drive 160 miles a week and average 27mpg. Half of the savings would be offset just for the bump in our fiber connection. I don't need a 25mb upload to watch movies or grab games. (our fiber is not the same up/down)

I had a 10 min drive time and that office is closed. The new one if it opens will add another 10 min. So I don't buy into the gas saving crap.

The IRS figures 56 cents per mile as an average cost to drive a car. At 10 miles each way is $11.20 per day. I used to drive 10 miles or so. Now of course I just navigate a happy dog reminding me to feed him. My cost was certainly cheaper than that with the El Camino. I never got paid to drive to work anyway.

I too had to increase my internet speed to cope with the crazy big files we send out and download. I went full bore to "Gigabit" speed with what is supposed to be 1024 Mbps down and never has been. Closer to mid 800s which is still screaming fast. My upload is 35 Mbps. I just uploaded 600 MB of files to a client. Fast and easy. I had that cheap ass boss of mine pay me for the extra cost of the faster internet.

GRRRRR.

I got a letter that looks very official, very government document looking. It is just some (expletives deleted) scammer company that is thinking I am stupid. They want me to send them $125 to renew my company name with the secretary of state. I do that myself for $21.

They want me to send them a extra 100 bucks, so that they are the agent in charge of my company name. I almost sent it to my business partner, just to set him off in a rage against them. He is pretty good at wasting their time and messing with their heads. It would likely just make some secretary working there cry.

At a former job in the photolab business we had a guy walk in in wearing workman overalls and carrying a clipboard. He walked right to the back, past several employees, and started looking at our fire extinguishers, and writing down something. I approached him and asked rather rudely, who the flock are you? I asked one of the other employees to close the door to the front, so he was trapped with us.

He was just a scammer that would walk into a business, look at fire extinguishers, and then present the secretary up front with an invoice for $200 for fire safety equipment inspection. He had no authorization to be there, and I asked another employee to call 911 and report a attempted robbery. The guy's eyes got big and he said he was not a robber. I said BS, that is just what you are doing back here were the sign says employees only. I took his clip board and threw it in the trash, and escorted him to the back door and told him to GTFO and if he ever comes back he will leave in handcuffs.

I hate scammers and thieves.

This morning I got up and skipped my shower. On with the shorts and t-shirt, and today is mow the yard day. Normally, I do that on the day after Thanksgiving, after a few hard freezes, and the leaves are off the trees.

We still have not had a hard freeze. Most of out trees are leaf off, but some in the area are still mostly leaf on. It is supposed to be 75 here today, so I have to go mow before it get too hot, on December 3rd. One last edge, string stig, mow and round up any stray leaves and get them all in the compost. Then winterize the 4 stroke edger, and the mower bu draining the gas, and replacing air filters, and maybe even an oil change. I change the oil every two years and I will have to look up when I did it last.

Dang boss making me mow his yard, and I don't even get a bonus!

I have to clean up the mess the wife made pruning the roses this weekend. I might get a beer out of it.

Up to 50* here today, only 40* tomorrow. At least I don't have to mow. I should get the snow blower ready so it won't snow soon. If it isn't ready we will probably get 6 inches in the next few days.

I need to get our old freezer loaded in the truck to take up to the guy that processes deer. He can have it just to be rid of it.

Golly what fun. The yard is done.

As I was getting started the master gardener had another change order for the sprinkler system I put in 22 years ago. Back then all of section 1 was just Bermuda grass that I mowed. Now there are three (3) flowerbeds in the section, and much less grass. Sprinklers designed to water grass are not always good for flowers in gardens. She planted some weird flowering plant right next to one of the pop up heads. The plant quickly grew to just smother the head. It had no chance to pop up at all, and even if it did the plant blocked all the pattern.

So I was "allowed" to dig down to the connection for the 6 inch turf head, and replace it with 15 inch popup up head. There was no practical way to bury the head to ground level. When it was a yard to mow, I just used the edger along the driveway on that side. The flower bed has a layer of decorative stones concreted in place right next to the head, and the supply line for that section goes right past the head. A real pro would have known to leave more room for major changes, but alas I was and will remain an amateur installer with no clairvoyant abilities to foresee possible upgrades needed.

I just count on it raining enough.

We have a chance of snow, but I hope we font yet as we have 30mph winds which do not play nice with snow. I don't mind snow, hate the wind.

We had some freezing rain yesterday, but the ground was still warm so just street signs and cars parked outside were covered in ice.

We had a cold front roll through, and we had lots of wind, but no precipitation. Mid 30s for a low, and back to the 50s today. Mid 70s later in the week.

The boss's wife had me stepn and fetching earlier. Up into the attic to get the tree and the decorations for it. She may not do a lot more than the tree.

Our house faces north, so the back yard is of course on the south. We have several south windows, but a large enough porch that the sun never really shines in except in winter. Our male dachshund loves to lie in the sunbeam on the carpet in the living room. In the earlier part of the day, the sunbeams are pretty blocked from the bedroom part of the house, but afternoon sun is much better in a dogs view. Right now the Christmas tree is blocking some of his sunbeams. Later in the afternoon the sun will come in from more windows in the kitchen's informal dining room - plant nursery.

He is not happy with just a partial sunbeam, but it will do for now. The good news is he is not spoiled at all.

Today the the boss's wife had me in the kitchen helping make apple dumplings for her to give away to neighbors. I was on cut up the apples duty, and then folding the dough around the apples task. Slave labor, and I may only get one of them as "payment" for all my labor. Several of the neighbors get dumplings, and several of them bring us cookies or home made ginger bread.
