For those of you that did not know, women think different than men.
![]() Case in point. Last night as I flushed the toilet it did not flush right. The second flush almost filled the bowl. We have the toilets that never clog so it had to be the sewer line. It was 10:30 at night and there was no point worrying about it so I went to bed. I took a real quick shower this morning and the drain worked. Mrs. Carrera gets up and flushes the toilet and the shower starts backing up. She managed to wash her hair in the sink and had a sponge bath. For some reason she did not want to stand in Grey water. (I would not either)I call Mr. Rooter and set up the time this morning to procure his services. Easy job, the clean-out in at the surface of the sidewalk so unscrew the cap and in 15 feet hit whatever. Gowoosh problem is gone. $110 bucks and he is gone. Money well spent. My wife asks if I could have done it. I said sure if I had that big stinky snake machine and someplace to store it. This is the part of woman thinking I don't understand. She was aghast that he did not clean up the machine. I know this guy will be on the way to the next service call and do the same thing again all day. Why clean it up when in 15 minutes it will be be in another sewer? How can he really clean it up anyway, a pressure washer? I would not want that job either. It would be like cleaning up your boots in the middle of a muddy field. It is not a great job but I supposed he makes decent money and he will never ever run out of customers. I will happily pay him for that service and not have to buy and store that equipment.

Not a job I'd want either. But for now I'm not jumping up and yelling I love my job. Not yet maybe later.

44 deg. here this morn.
Damn rear patio door project! Didn't get to install it on Sunday like I planned. When I pulled out the old french doors and was re-insulating and putting up new rock from the inside I had noticed that the RO had a sandwiched header with no spacer. I had also noticed that the outboard 2x12 had some bow in it. No problem I thought to myself, I'll throw some 3/8s ply in there and get it right once I the siding was pulled off for the new door install. Damn if the 2x12 on the exterior side wasn't in fact a 2x4! No wonder there was bowing. So, I had to regroup. Needless to say that it's a proper header NOW. Did I mention that when I first pulled out the old french doors, the only jack studs under the "header" at the time were 1x4s???!!! Was a bit of a ***** getting the new 2x12 up in there as the top plates had sagged since both had seams right over the opening. I sometimes think that my house was built by monkeys.

At our last house when we went to sell it the buyers inspector pointed out there were not enough braces in the attic to support the roof properly. I had to go up there and add two different cross braces. It was a real pain to get into position.
My first house was always owned by a Mr fix-it and upgrade it type. It had a lot of extras that the other houses in the area did not have. I upgraded the electrical service and ran a 220 line to the area for the dryer. That was the first time I had seen anyone pull the electric meter to kill the power to wire in a new breaker box.

Or was this an unpermitted mod to the house? The PO of my SoCal house fancied himself as Joe-Handyman. It's gonna take a while to put right all the stupid things he did to the house. ![]() Speaking of the SoCal house, our next work-cation is one month away. I was preparing my worklist for the trip yesterday morning. Can't wait to get there!

Our current house was a custom house that the PO had built. For the most part they did some cool add ons. There is an electrical outlet every 20 feet along the sofits outside. The part that made me want to buy the house is the garage. It is oversize with workbench area and a bathroom out there. I really have not found any stupid design or builder problems after 16 years of living there.

Pretty much. We have not discussed nipple lube in a while but we have discussed it in the past.
