Phew, my day off was a lot of work as expected.

Hey Rick, what is book time to replace one valve cover on a small block? I did it in only 5.5 hours. . Really. Of course I had two trips to the parts store, lunch and several "while I was in there" projects. New heater hoses was the easiest one.

Then I mowed the yard. Golly that was fun. I just now sat down for the first time since I went outside at 9:00 am.

Whew....almost had a heart attack today...
The majority of my sales come from Amazon.
NBC/Universal apparently did a sweep of the catalog looking for counterfeit (un)licensed goods and mistakenly identified one of my items...this is the kind of thing Amazon cans accounts over...
It took an hour of pretty much screaming at some schmuck from the NBC legal team to get things resolved....including asking him if he was going to take the felony defamation with loss charge that South Carolina allows....with a mandatory 3 year sentence....

All got worked out in the end though....my blood pressure is farmed...

Went to the doctor today, (on zero sleep).
Got there the customary 15 minutes early and had all the forms prepared ahead of time.
She immediately reminded me of the $25 co-pay. Which I paid.

So I sat and waited.

Zackly One hour later, i asked when I was going to see the doctor.
She said, the doctor isn't in the office.
I asked where he was. She said "we're not sure.
I said "he's not here, but you let me wait for an hour without telling me that. How long would you have let me sit there before you told me?
Deer in headlights.
She said, "he might be in surgery". i said he might but he also might be on the golf course. You don't know.
She: Would you like me to page him?

Me: No, I would like you to refund my co-pay, I'm leaving.
She did, I did.
Good thing it isn't life-threatening.

Bastages still got me for $2.50 for parking (with 1 hour free validation) but on the way home I was very proud of myself for not trashing the waiting room and not going to jail.

Doctors are worse than frigging lawyers. ...

On the bright side, it appears I'm going to academi this summer for some training. ..

Iffn the doc was in emergerncy surgery or somrething like that I could deal with it, but the front office people acted as if there was nothing wrong with making a room full of patients sit there for hours.
That's what got me.

Academi is the name of the week for the organization formerly known as Blackwater....they'll probably change it again by the time I show up this summer...

A couple of wood pieces for Sidney and his VW.

Finished cover plate out of zebrawood

Part of the plate with the matching shift knob out of mahogany and walnut.

I love how the iPhone randomly sizes images. Oh well.

My regular doc is great. Make appointment for next day over internet. Never waited longer than 2 minutes. Nurse takes me to a room, gets my vitals, walks out the door and says doc will be here in a minute. The door no more than closes and he opens it and walks in. in and out in 15 minutes and that was even when I got a physical and ekg for surgery on my foot.

The surgeon on my foot was a bit different. Because of the infectious nature of my foot thing I was the last patient of the day and caught the lag that built up. Still never waited longer than 30 minutes. Since he was a surgeon there was a couple of reschedules in the 8 months of post op care, but never left me hanging, and I never saw more than one other person in the waiting room.

Wound care doc was the same as regular doc. Never had to wait longer than just a couple of minutes.

I've been working on it, but still can't heel and toe without slamming on the brakes harder when I try to blip the throttle. And after working on it my foot hurts the whole next day. i think it has to do with they attached the tendons from my 4th toe to my third toe, then took out the knuckle for my little toe. There just doesn't seem to be anything on the right side of my foot to blip the throttle even thought it ought to be just the right side of my shoe.

Afternoon folks. Back from the autocross. It was a great track and we had a lot of Porsches running. For a change I did have the oldest car there. A guy showed up in a nice very clean 1978 Vette. I haven't seen a Vette that old at the track since the 70s when it was new. My 85 Carrera only beat him by 10 seconds and he was pushing it.

As soon as I got home Mrs Carrera pointed at her batch of flowers to plant. Time to dig more holes.

Anything can be done with some metalworking skilz.

The 356 restoration guys I met in Tulsa said it was getting real popular to take stock 356 coupes and speedsters and put 911 power train and suspension in them. They didn't like it because it because are 356 kit cars you can put the 911 hear in and have the same thing for a less money and without ruining a classic.

Never heard of a VW kit though I did see the episodes of Street Outlaws where the beat some impressive cars with their hopped up beetle motor.

One guy I know has a El Camino with modern Corvette chassis, drive train and suspension. All it takes is money.
