nope. i've been too busy with my new job and my son to grow any mushrooms. i really should, though. i might have to look through my supplies and see if i still have any oyster mushroom cultures. if not, i could always clone them from the grocery store oyster mushrooms. specifically, i'd want king oysters. those are the best, IMO.

I understand about the kids thing. If I recall, your son is about the same age as ours. And probably every bit a handful, and not in a bad way.

I remember the title. "The Monster That Challenged the World"

One of the things I miss about the old SciFi channel. Cheesy bad but fun movies. In some respects I like them better than movies like "Gravity" since they aren't supposed to be believable.

the difference is night and day. gone is the sexual harassment (really, and unwanted) and the ridiculously hostile environment.

a few months before i left the old job, the nurse educator (also the sexual harasser) yelled at me for quite some time right at the nurses station, because i had the balls to tell her that what she was doing was both dangerous for the patient and against the explicit orders of the doctor (she was working on the floor that day). i told her i wanted none of it and would not involve myself. she then proceeded to vocally let everyone there know, at the top of her lungs, that i was incompetent, lazy, and not a team player. mind you, this is from a middle manager i was getting this treatment. i let the HR manager know what happened, who is useless, and she called me back a couple of days later and said that the nurse educator wanted to have a meeting to explain her side. i told the HR manager that the educator was just pissed because i constantly spurned her advances and that i had no interest in hearing her BS excuses for bad behavior.

and that was the kind of thing that would happen at least once a month. i nearly came to blows with one of the drs., because the short little prick kept getting in my face.

when i would tell the powers that be that it was dangerous having two therapists work with 12 patients on ventilators, plus another twenty or more patients, they would just shrug their shoulders. it is amazing that someone didn't die due to under-staffing the last couple of months i was there.

they LITERALLY had 80%+ turnover of nurses in the last year i worked there. when i left, it was the final straw for the director of respiratory therapy and he stepped down. since i left, more than half of the RT staff has moved on.

so, yeah, things are much smoother. i love the work i do and i actually make a difference in billing policy and things of that nature. /rant

max is five. i'll probably get the oyster mushroom project ramped up next summer or fall so that we can go live with mushroom production during the winter (oyster's need it to be rather cool). it will be a good science project for max. i still have my custom humidifier.

truly, i have it pretty good at my new job. i get more praise in a week at my new job than i ever did in five years at my old job. they have me training the new people and i am constantly helping folks with minor little computer tweaks and shortcuts. it's super nice.

Amen to that. I need a job like that. Not that it is bad here, it is just the people make it worse.

People make everything worse.....people, in general, suck.

Every day I don't throat punch someone at the gym is a victory in my book.

Our airplane is in the beginning stages of the annual. The engine is timed out so it goes as well. Our pilot is the most meticulous detail oriented people I know. His log books are a work of art. Since it is his butt in the seat he insists on the airplane being in 100% tip top shape. I can't say that I blame him.

We have one A&P mechanic that is an old Grey that does not feel motivated enough to want to do a engine swap. We hired a young gun A&P that works full time at the FAA so his mechanic job is just a side job.

All three of them get along great and they make a good team. Our pilot wants to be there helping and doing the parts he can do. He wants to see with his own eyes things are done by the book and nothing is overlooked. The prop is at the prop shop. The fuel lines are all getting replaced this time around. Lots of while we are in there things are getting done. The young mechanic was blown away by the log books our pilot keeps. He sees a lot of log books in his day job and on his side job. Many private pilots get very sloppy with log books, especially men that own their own airplane.
