Yep, cold and rainy here today and tomorrow. Frost warnings for tonight.

Wife is working today and tomorrow.

Going to my sister's tomorrow to clean her house windows. Her hubby is still recovering from the heart surgery and she can't climb ladders because of her bad knees.

Their bratty child still hasn't had any contact with them. Not even on Mother's Day..

Man, if my dad were still around he would be mildly irritated by the situation. I say that as he never seemed to get really, really mad. He was always so even keeled, I wish I were more like him.

Mornin all

Up at sparrow fart with the little munchkin having a sleepover.

Wow! Didn't think pelican was into total censorship. I guess the 'my wife is trying to make me go to church' thread got totally out of hand during the day. I was thinking it'd be in parf pretty quick and prolly closed off for comment if it got too bad, but not wiped totally.

Oh well, time to think about some breaky and head off for golf. Need a good score for the team for todays semi-finale. The winner goes straight to the grand finale.

Stijn!!

Mrs Carrara was clear this morning in that the yard was going to be mowed before other things I wanted to do happened. I decided to mow the yard first since there was a small chance of rain this afternoon. When that was done I dropped by the car show the Local region held at Hooters. Good turnout for crappy food.
I did not drive the 911 since I wanted to replace the spark plugs and doing that on a hot engine is not gonna happen. I got the right side done and the air cleaner back on. The air cleaner on a Carrera is a major pain in the butt. For some reason it was a huge pain today.
Tomorrow I will finish the plugs on the easy side of the engine.

Strange things happen in West Hollyweird.... Was out celebrating a friends 30th last night. It's getting harder and harder to do all nighters. Ended up back at home around 5am.

Wow, that pic reminded me of one of my earliest memories. My Dad carrying me across the yard and putting me in my brother's go cart when I was that age. The go cart was wooden and looked like one of those soap box racers if it was made by the little rascals. It was powered with the lawn mower's engine. They put the engine back on the lawn mower to mow the yard. The steering was done with ropes. Remember understanding the steering, grabbing the ropes and then getting upset because they wouldn't make it go. I wasn't even big enough to see out of it. Know I was that young because it was in the drive way of the house we moved from right before my 2nd birthday.

Have four memories from living in that house. The go cart. Two from the house next door, and the day we moved.

The boy in the house next door and my brother were the same age. He had a train layout in their attic. He and my brother took me up there to watch the trains. He also had a tree house in his back yard. They took me up there and let me read comic books with them. Don't remember what comic they gave me to read.

Remember when we moved we went back and got one of my toys that got left. It was a 2 ft sq piece of masonite with a metal castle in the middle. The masonite was painted green like grass with a blue moat around the castle mounted in the middle. Kinda weird I Don't remember the dog we had living there. Have pictures of it tackling me and licking me in the face with me laughing. Just don't remember that dog at all.

My niece was born in Gallop NM the day before my 2nd birthday. Woke up in the back seat of the car on the trip out there. They had started the trip while I was still asleep. Had to change from my pajamas to my clothes in the back seat and didn't want to. Didn't want people to look in the car windows and see me getting dressed. Remember my Grandmother being in the back seat also. That was the only long trip she ever took with us.

That was an interesting F1 race. Amazing start. Interesting winner. I would never have guess that winner.

I spent the afternoon in the garage. The weather was great for temperature. No AC needed.

I changed the stereo in the 911 two weekends ago and I was about to consider myself stupid because the only sound from the new stereo sounded like the car behind me in traffic. Just muffled noise. I started my research and finally figured out the real problem was the previous owner! After owning a car for 20 years it is not often I can blame a previous owner for a problem.

I presume like many people in the 80s one of the previous owners took the car to a typical stereo shop and had them put in an amplifier under the seat. I replaced the POS cassette radio that was in it long ago. That previous owner took it to a typical stereo shop that did some real butcher work that I have fixed much of. The one thing I left alone was that amp. That amp will be in the trash can soon. I will have to remove the passenger seat to get rid of it but I have not done that as yet.

The new stereo is all iPod ready and it plays USB drives and will charge a iPhone and play the music on it at the same time. It will do the bluetooth connections and even HD radio.

One of the other tasks I attacked was new spark plugs. The driver's side is real easy. The passenger's side is not hard except that the air filter has to come off. Off is easy, getting that thing back on is insane.

While I was doing the plugs I always check plug wires at the cap. Those were fine then I checked the coil. It is toast. It was leaking black goo. If I go to the Porsche dealer and get a new Bosch coil it is one made in Brazil and those are garbage. The one I had in there was maybe three years old and replaced the factory coil that was in there from 1985.

The tech pages all point to a aftermarket coil that is supposed to be great. The one problem is it is smaller in diameter. If you just tighten the coil bracket the bolt holes on the body will not align to allow it to fit. With some "special engineering" I managed to get some spacers in the bracket and get it all put back together.

Oh yea, The battery on the 911 died and it is 7 years old so it gets replaced.

I am SO GLAD I found the coil and battery problem now and not in one month in the land of Yankees in some state far from home. That is why I test and check everything before the trip.

Yeah, glad you found the coil but why did it only last 3 years?

We had every season on the way to the East side of MI today.

Cleaned my sister's windows and did some other small tasks she needed done. My little brother even showed up and jumped in to help without asking. The difference in him without the dope is amazing.

Stijn!!

It only lasted 3 years because it is a genuine OEM Bosch in a Porsche box made in Brazil coil POS.

Had a friend the was a really good guy until that first drink of the day. Then he turned into a belligerent arse that took everything said as a personal insult. Was at that point he was having a fifth every evening for dinner. He owed rent and had a nice IROC Z he didn't drive because his car battery died and his tag had expired.

Dropped by once and he had a half finished fifth of whisky, a pistol and one round of ammo on the coffee table in front of him. Stayed until he passed out. Found out that the next day he checked into rehab and says because I hung around he put off committing suicide. Asked me to go to one of his first AA meetings. Had to introduce myself as a friend of an alcoholic. Took him a while, but he dried out, got married and has a great kid he is now a great Dad to.

This is my old coil. This shows it removed the the position in the engine compartment. The black stuff was sticky. I presume tar.

This is the manifold for the fan for the heater. The rubber boot at the bottom is a challenge to get it down all the way and stay there. Mine kept trying to pop up and the rubber "foot" was not even with the sheet metal which lets hot air from the muffler up into the engine compartment. Getting it to stay down and tighten the screw clamps with no room for a screwdriver and my hand is fun!.

It is clamped down and tightly in place. If I get back from my test drive and it has come up I may scream.

Good Morning, if your location is such that the planets rotation is increasing your exposure to the light of the nearest star. Otherwise, greetings with respect to whatever planetary rotational alignment to the nearest star, Sol's exposure you are experiencing, ie Good Day, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, or Good Night...Good grief.

^^^^^^

What Richard said..

Glen, would it be easier to tighten the clamps on the heater hose if you flipped them over so the screw heads were on the left side. More room to torque them maybe?
