When my friend was in Cupertino, 1993 his 1 bedroom efficiency apartment was $2000 a month plus bills. He was looking for a house, but that was completely out of control, $1.4 M for 900sqft. We visited some other Apple employees and there were like 3 couples living in one 3 bedroom 900 sqft home. They were having a party because one of the guys living in the house had gotten hired by Next and was moving to Tahoe. He and his wife were moving out and another couple from Apple was moving in. They treated my friend like a big wig. He was not only paying for that expensive apartment he was also paying off his house in Austin. He bought the house in Austin where he did because he thought Apple was putting an office there. It has been over 10 years but Apple finally put in the offices LAST YEAR! And much closer to his house than they originally bought land. The new Apple offices are within 2 miles of his house.
Went to the Apple store with him about the time they had just came out with the iMac with 4K display. He was chatting up with a sales person and I was bored. There were lots of people standing around but not doing anything, just browsing I guess. Anyway, I went around to all the computers they had on display and used the photo booth program that takes pics using the iSight camera on the computer. Took close up zoomed pictures of parts of my face, my Nose, Eye, Ear, Mouth, etc. And made a different picture the desktop background on every computer except the one my friend and the salesperson was looking at. They I interrupted them and said "Oh, my gosh, look, something is wrong with all these computers!" They looked around and cracked up. Every computer in the joint was displaying a different zoomed in part of my face and it was out just far enough you could tell they were all of the same person. Interestingly not long after that the people that were just loitering around had gone over and started messing with the macs. There wasn't one left that somebody wasn't messing with after that. It was like my stunt let everyone know it was okay to mess the the demo models they had out. When I was at the Apple store with my brother week before last for him to buy an iPad I looked at the Apple watches again. Before my cadillac surgery on my right eye I couldn't see well enough the read the screen on them. The good news is now I can (at least with my right eye). The problem is I can't think of anything to use the Apple watch for that is worth getting one.

I bet when you look at the instructions it says water and fire resistant.
It might keep the contents safe in a typical house fire where the room burns some and the fire department hoses it all down. It will not withstand a total fire or flood. Your house is darn unlikely to have a flood, so just a wet floor from a plumbing leak is survivable for it. Those fires that California has all the time where entire areas are burned is not something that is practical to build full protection from. Glad ya got it. I would hate to loose my email server!

Credit card issue fixed now I can get mine off the bill and there's on it. I just hope that I'm not here next week. I seem to like sleeping in my own bed.

The safe claims 1 hour fire protection including CD's and thumb drives. Don't know off the top of my head how deep it can be submerged. Wondering if I should bolt it to the floor somewhere to keep someone from walking out with it. It does have push buttons or a key instead of a dial and handle.
The server is backed up to a fire/water proof drive with the same specs. It has some kind of venting that when it senses fire or water it closes up like a clam. Even if it loses power first.

We have that stuff in where the cabling goes through a fire wall. Cool stuff but not cheap.
We had good food in Austin except one place that was recommended on the other thread about Austin. It was bland and dry. Everything else was really good. We had one night where a guest left their little yappy dog alone in the room for several hours. I felt bad for the dog and it scratched at the door and yipped and whined for hours. The guests didn't get back until 2:00am and then sounded like they kicked the dog. Wore shorts on the flight back and it was warm here in WI still, close to 70*.

Here in Oz you are not allowed to burn anything on a bonfire or furnace in your back yard or anywhere, no pollution allowed.

I often run a chiminea in the back yard during the winter months.
Lots of stinky wood fires burning all around the town (and the river bed) during winter.

Lived in this house 20 years as of Halloween. Never once have even lit a match or lighter in the fireplace let alone built a fire. Mom was allergic to the smoke. Now am afraid to use it without having a chimney sweep come check it out first since it was not used for so long.

Prolly a good idea. Who knows what's made a nest up in there.
One of the houses we live in had a combustion stove/heater, I found some chimney brooms/tools from somewhere one year, got up on the roof and gave the pipes a scrub. Best thing I ever did for that stove, heated up the house very effectively that winter.
