I know this isn't trendy like some of you other guys, especially Shaun (I do salute all of you for your expertise and artistry in creating such delectable food.), but it's one of my favorite dinners. Peas, mashed potatoes, and SALMON PATTIES. I was commenting to my sister years ago how people didn't seem to like salmon patties. She looked at me and said, "Marv, nobody likes salmon patties except for you." Of course I put catsup on them.

I forgot to take photos.

But I had fresh paua frttters. I think you people who speak American call them abalone. So paua, onion, garlic, an egg and some rolled oats. Then shallow fried and served with a splash of lemon juice. No vegetables - no point in ruining a perfectly good meal.

Thanks Baz, they were good and so easy to make. Looking forward to seeing your potato skins! I love them. After doing some testing, I did find out that the absolutely best way to bake a potato is the old school rub with oil and salt and bake in the oven for 65-70 minutes at 400F. Flavor intensifies and is much better than microwave and even microwave + oven for 30 minutes. Like great BBQ, baked potatoes need time.

Thanks Marv but as you say, in a way, food is such a personal thing and sometimes it's all about simplicity and honesty of flavor like your your salmon dish which looks pretty great. That said, I can't imagine ketchup on salmon. To each his own.

And I really love that plate!

I'm not great about photos, myself, Bill....don't feel bad. I'm usually in too much of a hurry to eat what I cook...lol.... Never had abalone but another thing now to consider for future dining experiences!

Agree, Shaun. That's how I've always done it. Will pick up some bacon, cheese, and green onions, and sour cream this week so I can go full monty!

There's another baked potato dish called "Twice Baked" potato that I will give a go as well. The cool temps we are experiencing is feeding my carb cravings!

Those are a thing my mother had made since I was a kid, & catsup is what I've always put on them. I agree with our comment about the catsup, but they wouldn't be the same to me without it. My wife makes them. I demonstrated the recipe and she does a better job on them than I. Once in a while, I tell her I need salmon patties and she makes them for me. My plate thanks you for the compliment.

Not exactly dinner. But it's my birthday so I can eat whatever I want. GF got me this because I'd often spoken fondly of how my granddad used to buy me battenberg cakes

Nice looking turkish flat bread?

Woooo. I love the size of those shrimps.

I had (New Zealand) scampi the other day. they were like large prawns but had a lobster like hard body and pincers. they were fantastic. Hard work to cut up, but fantastic.

Baked at 450, Shaun. On wire rack with pan underneath to catch any drippings. Rubbed with butter and seasoned with Kosher salt and black pepper. 25 minutes...then pull, re-baste with butter, re-season, and turn over. Cook for another 20 minutes. YUM!

I ate 2 and gave the 3rd to my dog. Sorry no pics this time.

Paper plate because of second day of left-over. Just as good as the first.

Copycat Shake Shack Smoke Shack Burgers. Applewood smoked bacon, shack sauce and diced pickled cherry peppers. Great flavor combo - will be doing these again for sure.
