If it's still good, Behlen pore filler from the LP project.

If it's not good, I'll probably just buy another can. I had good luck with it.

Grain filling has been the hardest part of the whole project. Any tips?

I'd have to go through my notes as a refresher, but first - practice on scraps!

I tinted the filler, so after it was mixed, I scooped it onto the body and hand rubbed it in. I believe after letting it sit for a short period of time, I took an old credit card to scrape it off. Possible after a bit more time, I used a dry rag to wipe the body down. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions on the can at the time. I can look them up tomorrow.

If it works it's definitely worth $60. A nice little 10w top-shelf quality tube amp in a stealth package.

On another note about
AMPs, alot of guys here (where I live) are really into Fender amps from maybe the
50's or 60's. Is that something ya'll do?

Lowes sells a nitro based grain filler you can spray of brush on I used it for both my Tbird respray and the PJ bass. Lacquer Sanding Sealer | Deft Inc | Trade Spray a bunch of coats, wetsand with 400 until you see no dots and then hit it with your primer.

Dylans guitar

This guitar or one just like it is in the papers today. Dylan's first electric guitar which really upset the folksy crowd "waybackwhen". Maggies Farm was the song, now it's being auctioned off real soon. Dylan lawyers dispute the facts and say Dylan still has it.

Makes good reading. Valued at $400Thou. No wonder they're disputing facts.

While you are appreciating the art of guitars check this Gretsch Round up. It's a reproduction of the 50s model. The original one would of had a real branded G mark burned into the wood.

I like tube amps and have two, a 1968 Fender Champ and a Fender Tweed Deluxe clone with nos tubes and vintage speaker. I would like a Fender Blackface Deluxe Reverb, but I think buying a new boutique amp might be a better option. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying a Carr Sportsman.

My brother has a GE Smith Tele and wants an ES335(he really wishes he would have pulled the trigger on a Pelham Blue one!). On the other hand does not have any amps, no matter how many I find for him to buy. He just passed on a nice Victoria 5112(it's been sold) and now there's a Swart STR Tweed available. I almost bought the Vicky myself and the Swart sure would be a nice addition to my collection.

I at least try to play and have been becoming more and more serious about it. I wish I didn't start so late in life. My brother won't even try.

Thanks Stuart. As you can see she did get banged around a bit, but not really played much as the fretboard is like new. A little piece of family history and Les Paul finery.

Mine was a loaner from the music store that I took all of about 3 lessons at age 10. I quit the lessons but my parents bought the guitar for me..

No one in my family handing down 50's Les Pauls, that's for sure. Just piano bloody accordians.

Here's a couple of '50s LPs and a '50s Gretsch for you guys. Unfortunately for me, I don't own any of these any more.

'59 double anniversary

'53 LP conversion in Gretsch Orange

And a super rare '59 Singlecut LP TV Model that I actually got from someone here on the forum.

Some Tele/Esquire love...

Probably the best sounding guitars I have ever owned. A '56 refin with the best bridge PU I've ever heard, and a couple of hotrod modern guitars. There is nothing like an ash-maple Esquire with a killer pickup. I absolutely love these guitars.

That's an extremely rare guitar. Singlecuts are rare in '58. I've never seen another one from '59 or later. Yeah, it had some mods. It had been converted to a Special when I bought it from a guy here on the forum. I sent it to Gord Miller to have it made whole again. Outside of the plugs that can be seen in the pics the finish is 100% original.

It is a complete monster. I've never heard another Les Paul that sounds like it. It weighs about 7lbs and vibrates and rings like no solid body guitar I've ever played. My '53 conversion was a great old LP, but nothing like this guitar.
