I'm shocked. I pay intermittent attention to those cars and that is an outlier price. It will soon be in 997.2 S territory.

I've told it before but I passed on a 2009 regular 997.2 loaded w sport chrono, adaptive sport seats, silver/black w 60k miles and clean title for $31k about a year ago. It had a complete and very high quality respray due to branches falling on it during a major storm. All documented.

I would not pay more for the car on BAT but apparently others would.

BAT pulls really high prices for decent cars. My buddy sold his Citroen DS yesterday for $10k more than I thought it would get and another buddy bought a JCW Mini a week ago for many thousands more than I thought it was worth.

If someone is willing to pay it, that's value.

BAT is turning into Barret Jackson; prices are generally above market value. There must be some sort of added value to some people. To me a car is a car, I don't care if it came from BAT or B/J.

I had no doubt it would eclipse $35k (BAT or not).
If what you say is true, there should numerous similar examples (S coupe/manual/under 40k mi./nav/sport-chrono/sport seats/etc.) that are currently available at non "outlier" prices. Can you point to any?

FWIW, I am not debating that some of the sale prices realized and/or the state of the P-car market in general is crazy-town. This whole "trickle-up" thing with other newer (non air-cooled) models has gotten a bit ridiculous, IMO.

I test drove a 2013 991S w PDK yesterday. I was driving past the dealer downtown and just decided to swing in and see what they had in CPO used cars. It was pretty nice. You can't really measure it against older 911s, it's a different beast. But there is a LOT of performance lurking just below the surface. Didn't get to any good roads but the car definitely just does whatever you ask it to.

They had quite a selection of new cars. GT3s, turbo S coupe, a 2016 GT4 w 4K miles and 6-speed manual, etc., etc. They also had a manual trans 2014 991 but it was a bit of a stripper, options-wise.

Hey Denis, how would you comment on the GT vs sports car angle for the 991? How did it feel in terms of nimble responsiveness? I’ve never driven one but they just seem like such a big GT car.

They are actually not much bigger than a 997 or 996. A little wider. Most sports cars have gotten bigger in recent years and I'd still call it a sports car, especially compared to something like an Aston Martin or Maserati coupe, or whatever their competition is these days.

Responsiveness to all inputs is extreme and without slop, to put it mildly. Very enjoyable to pilot through city traffic and on and off the freeway. I'd love to push one in a canyon or at the track but I only got a short city test drive. I liked it but it's definitely a pretty big evolution from the earlier cars.

The track variants like the GT3 are probably quite raw. The 991.1 S I drove was just right in terms of refinement vs. raw, IMO. It was pretty refined but still a scalpel. You should drive one.

This place, (Puyallup VW in WA.), has several nice 997s but their asking prices on the lot are high. They are asking $48k for the car I posted.

I'm guessing very low $40s for the auction but I've been wrong before on this thread.
