Long way to go. Get north, get east, get the f out to sea.
BTW, I like this site, recommended by a poster here. Once you get used to it, it is great:

Mike's Weather Page... powered by Sparks Energy!

He has link available other places, I like the variety. One stop shopping.

My BIL is a cop in DelRay Beach near Ft.Lauderdale. I think if it keeps on he track it is, he will be in the direct path, or worse yet...in the NorthWest quadrant where the winds and rain are heavier.

I may be taking a trip. I'll let the insurance man worry about the house. It depends on how things look in the next couple of days.

Wouldn't you know it, my mom, sister and niece are supposed to go to Orlando on the 13th. My sister's friend is heading to Orlando this Friday for a meeting.

Now looking like the Keys are going to get a direct hit (I have a good friend who lives in EYW that I've been unable to get a hold of, hopefully because he's driving up through the panhandle heading north / west in areas that have no cell service).

This one is tricky. It looks as though the Carolinas will get spared but parts of FL are going to get hammered. Once this thing enters the Gulf of Mexico (which it looks like it'll do), does it go to New Orleans next? Extrapolating the track puts it awfully close...

Might be a Cat 4 or even Cat 5 by then. This is a monster. It's a textbook storm with very little working against it (warm SSTs, low to no atmospheric shear, moist air along the projected path, etc.) If anything it likely will get stronger. Be safe all!

So True. After living on the Gulf Coast for quite a few years our mantra was more or less I wouldn't wish a hurricane on anyone but please go somewhere else.

It this thing doesn't turn North and enters the Gulf, they better ramp up production of Xanax as everyone in these parts is going to a have a major anxiety attack if not worse.

I live in St. Croix right now. Just finishing up a project at the Captain Morgan Rum Distillery. It's supposed to pass by north of us at about 2 PM tomorrow. As long as it doesn't "wobble" we should see just 50-60 mph winds and heavy rain. We'll see.

My permanent residence is Lake Jackson, TX. Harvey caused flooding in the streets at my sub-division, but no water in the house. Damn hurricanes are kicking my ass right about now.

We're leaving for vacation Sunday - headed to OBX. Rented a house on beach road. Hope it's still there and the weather at least isn't damaging. Worst case it rains, we get a motel tan.......

Good luck, Baz. Here's hoping Irma turns back towards the ocean and leaves you safe.
