The weather guy showed two paths - 1 goes up thru Miami, and the other seems to go across my house and then up thru Ft Myers. Family is evacuating tomorrow, I have to stay for work. Should be interesting.

Btw I'm back after a little break. I'll post about that later, assuming I don't get washed away.

I hope the other forecast is way off the mark. Good luck and hopefully Irma turns back well before hitting the coast, Soren!

I live in SW Florida. I've put the shutters up and we are leaving Thursday. Heading for Gatlingburg Tn. Figured it is a good time to take a little vacation. And my insurance man is paying $500 for me to move the plane.

The Boxster is going into the hangar.

The people that I've talked to that were here the last time a hurricane hit are leaving.

Post from an old high school friend:

I am the Vieques correspondent and will post primarily there. If we lose touch don't worry. We will be back in touch as soon as we can. Please focus your prayers and thoughts on keeping that eye wall away from us. That kind of raw power is beyond reason. Attached is a picture of our beloved Esperanza Bay today. All of the boats and planes have left for safe haven. We are on this little island until the boats and planes run again. I think that is why Jim Cantore isn't here.

This thing is a monster, and we on the Spacecoast, of course are hoping it doesn't make the turn. But it certainly is going to slam our friends in the south. Best to prepare to bail out shortly. Good luck to you.

Tried to call my friend in Summerland Key. No answer. Hopefully, he's loaded up his motorhome and is on his way out of there.

I'm a bit further south than you, also SWFL. Shutters went up tonight, still a little to go, but heading north Wednesday evening. No destination figured out yet.

Take comfort in having the forecast go directly over your house now. It will most likely change in the upcoming days and won't be a direct hit. We had that line cross our place a few times with Harvey. Each time it changed, sometimes for the worse but change it did.

Hang in there Floridians, we will send help.

My sister-in-law is in West Palm Beach with 6 month old twins. My wife is trying to call her, but we're hoping they're on the way out now...

185 mph - that is astonishing. Imagine driving your house across a rain-swept plain at 185mph. Incredible.
