Down but not latched......bulb removed from frunk light.......what's the point of that? If I need light it's called a flashlight.

I unplugged the light under the hood. I can always plug in if I need it (or if I start driving the car enough that it does not need a tender).

On my previous 911, I ran a wire from the tender through an existing hole (with grommet) that under the front valence near the fog light wiring.so that I didn't have to open/close the hood. I don't bother with my current cars and just leave the hood down/latched now.

There isn't much reason not to leave your battery on a modern tender if you aren't gonna drive it for a week, and the frunk isn't air-tight.
I know, my poor simple neighbor bought the car from Porsche, bought the battery from Porsche, and bought the Porsche branded trickle charger from Porsche, who cooda node?

The Porsches and some other euro cars are in kind of a different situation for battery charging as in they have the battery located in enclosed spaces. My picture just illustrates the potentials that are there. I wonder what the actual occurrence is, 1 in 10,000-100,000 or 1,000,000?

Do I trickle charge my truck or other vehicles with the hood closed? heck yes, it is all open under the engine compartment and the hoods are not sealed like the Pcars

unplug light first day of ownership.
leave hood ajar when trickling
end of potential problems.

until i let the wife take the 964 to work. me glad the hood was partially latched - never did recover the smart tender .........

I bought a CTEK 7002 battery tender. Basic question: Do you just connect to positive and negative terminals of the battery and not to a separate grounding location? Or connect to one terminal and a separate ground. The CTEK instruction video says one thing and the manual says another. And if it's a separate ground, what do folks suggest attaching the ground to? The cables that came with the unit are pretty short--not sure what they'll reach from the frunk.

Don't know. Electrically why would it matter?

In my 911, the positive is on the battery terminal connector and the ground goes to the ground star that is also the negative lead from the battery. Seemed to make the most sense to me.

On my bus both leads are connected to he battery terminals as that made the most sense there.

Neither one has exploded nor burned down yet and I doubt any thing bad will happen.

Love my Ctek. Check out there accessories -

I bought the extension cables and the indicator eyelet (hardwire to battery and displays state of charge). Might pickup the wall mount as well...

another satisfied CTEK 7002 user here too -- I connect the alligator clips directly to the battery's positive and negative terminals and then completely shut the trunk (wire's thin enough to comfortably compress under the hood seal and the hood seal's) generally leave the CTEK itself on the floor of my garage by the front bumper so I can monitor its status lights.

I connected the o rings to the terminals. Lead hangs out the trunk lid. Has a cap to protect the ground from corrosion. Pull into the garage and the Tender Junior gets hooked up. Easy Peasy. I have a minor parasitic draw and it can sit a few days. Always has 12.8+ for an easy start up.

Down and latched, but not closed. More important is a quality charger that will recognize and shut down when things are not going well and a properly vented or AGM battery.

Latched tight to keep out Mickey and Minnie, but careful not to pinch cable.

I just close far enough to engage the safety latch. This way if I back out without disconnecting the charger, the quick connector comes apart rather than ripping out the cable. Don't ask how I know!

I just bought a Ctek from 4wheelonline because of the recommendation of my cousin. When using it, I leave the trunk open just a crack. No problems so far.
