6660441 should be a 930/02 from 1976 911 Carrera 3,0

Thank you very much!
Funny, you're from Ontario. I'm looking for a replacement 930 3.3l engine since the original engine is probably somewhere in Ontario Canada, but the scrapyard guy won't help me find it, he sold it a while ago. Grumpy guy.

Who was the scrapyard guy? I can check around if you know the serial you want. The local PCA group is very large and quite active.

Hi helpful friends!
Same question as everyone else from me, couldn't find a chart anywhere.
i've got 930/10 and 63C0454 (with little stars on either side)
Also, how can you tell if your chassis/engine numbers match besides them being the same year?
Thanks in advance!
Grant.

Hi Guys

I bought a 74 euro car and was told it has a 3.0 from a 78 in it. As I go through the car and see everything that the guy did (or covered up) I suspect everything now. the engine # is 6303583. I've just jacked the car up so will check on the engine type as well. Thanks in advance.

I'm having problems finding your engine # as well. The source I use indicates the following:

6=six cylinder

3=S engine

0=1970 year

Now, here's the confusion. The next two digits, 35, indicate a '70 US-T which it cannot be if it is already an S. The last four digits, 3583, do not fall within the range of S engines produced in 1970. So, I'm puzzled. The engine type may help solve this problem, or some other source may have the answer. At this point, I would simply say it is not a 3.0 from a 78--if the numbers you posted are correct.

However, if you misread the numbers and the third digit is actually 8 instead of 0, then the engine decodes to a 1978 SC engine 3.0L.

EDIT: I think pors1968 nailed it in his post, below.

Thanks pors1968, yes, I found the eng type and it is a 930\09 so I guess it's an 80 not a 78, one more year and I would have hit the lottery (204hp)! Thanks to all who replied!!

I got the information sheet from Porsche for my 1978 911 roller I have and while the sheet had engine and trans numbers, it did not state which engine it actually came with.
Would anyone know the type of engine and transmission by the numbers? Also regarding paint it says "onyxmet", is this Onyx Metallic right? Is it rare colour?

Here's the copy-paste of the information sheet I got from the dealer:

Here's a riddle:

*3280888 and 930/06

Best answer so far is factory replacement case, randomly stamped incorrectly. I can confirm it's 3.0.

Well, 328xxxx is a 1968 code and definitely incompatible with 930/xx.
What are the case casting part #'s on the lower sides of the case? That would be a strong indicator of the year of manufacture.
