http://frwilk.com/944dme/of.htm

Chips comming soon for this SUMMER for the 951, 968, 944S, 944S2 & 911
MAke sure you click on the HFM5 conversion on the lower left tool bar, Looks like a sweet setup and if the price comes out where it should be (around $650) Then this is gonna be one hot conversion.

big props to wilk,,, i wonder if he willl have a dyno sheet of before and after? I would jump on it, but have mine in the works.

either way he will sell alot of these, as people spend $600 on a shiny exhaust that gives minimal gains,,

derek

Looks great!! Are you expecting similar performance gains to most other MAF setups on the 951??

Keep us updated FR!

I would love to test it out but I dont think I can because Im already running a HR MAF setup that is hard wired in and I no long use the stock AFM plug, But like I said If its anything like his chips it should be sweeeeeet.

Where was FRwilk 6 years ago when I did my MAF conversion for $1200, I would love to have only spent $650

What kind of gains will be seen from the MAF conversion? On a stock engine? How about with Bursch headers, test pipe, and cat back? Would port and polish/bigger valves be a good investment? What else would you do to go with the MAF, cam, maybe?

Somewhere in his writeup he says it'll be an improvement over the inferior hot-wire MAF used by Bosch prior to 1995 (which would cover the 968's) I can see how the hot-wire conversion would be a significant improvement over the barn-door style maf, but i wonder how significant an "improved" hot-wire maf would be over an "inferior" hot-wire-maf. I'm sure there would be an improvement, but i would be very amazed if it were significant.

On an NA, 2 -3 HP gain.

I am confident that if FR can get thinks working in harmony with the combination of the MAF and Power Prom we may see better results than we have seen with individual MAF systems.

The question that always comes up is how much HP for $. Let me see .... $650 + power Prom ...

The $ never seem to stop leaking out of my pockets ;^).

Back in the day Huntley Racing claimed 10-12hp on the NA MAF kit, it included the MAF, ARC2(fuel control), AFPR, and a a/f gauge. I noticed a big difference once I did the MAF and a tuned Exhaust Header, One day I will need to run on a dyno but there isnt many around me.

The MAF kit is a great upgrade if you really looking to build your motor, with the Stock AFM there are limitations due to flow, now the only big limitation would be the Throttle body and thats not that bad, Im not sure how FR-wilk has his MAF setup or if he will be running stock fuel MAPS, But I would think if he sold a chip (made just for the MAF conversion) that it would be really sweeet.

Pokey- You dont have to do any upgrades for the MAF conversion, it will work with or with out upgrades. It all depends on what your looking for, IF I where you I would start out with a Chip (PP2), MAF conversion, and a good exhaust, Then If you still not happy thats when you can start dumping more money in. The one thing I would be careful of is too much porting and polishing, If you go crazy and have bigger valves installed and make the ports huge your gonna loose alot of low end power and gain some in the upper R's.

My thinking was to do all the hardware mods first, MAF, T body, match manifold/intake ports, mild port/polish, cam, full exhaust, then have the chip burned taking all the hardware into consideration. But before I do all that, i want to lighten the car as much as possible, without making it to uncomfortable for daily driving. Throwing money at it to make it more fun is kind of the point of owning one of these, isn't it?

I totally agree, Thats the same aproach I am taking, Im doing the Performance mods first, then lightening her while still making something I would love to drive daily, Great minds think alike :-)

Only problem is, while I know FR-WILK makes one of the greatest chips out there, I dont think he can make custom chips, Dont take my word for it since I have never asked him, He might be able to do if given the proper data on your p-car. Anyway we should keep in touch, How far along are you on your build??

Just getting started. As you can see from my sig. I've got a couple of projects going. The first step was getting the 924S running, that took a while, as I bought the car with a broken T belt and all of the exhaust valves bent. Other than those problems, everything engine wise seemed fine. That is untill I got it put together. The rings stuck in the grooves from sitting. So rather than rebuild the engine, I found an '88 with 45,000 miles that was wrecked. Now it is on the road, after two years of piddling around with it more off than on. Now that it runs, I'm planning the build. I might have Juvy build the original engine, I remember him posting a while back that he can build a 300 HP NA for something like $6000.

Pokey, A 300hp NA would be sweeet, looks like ALLporsche944 also has some good HP. Im just getting started and my engine is out, Im just slowly collecting parts so I dont MAX out my accounts, I am still very undecided on what to do about displacment, It would be kina cool to keep it a 2.5 but I would love to go to a 2.7 with a High CR around 11 to 1 but IF im gonna do that I mine as well just go 2.8. Only problem then is I think I will need to go stand alone if I start messing with it that much.

Anyway I will be using a lightweight flywheel, Bigger T-body, Cam, Valve train work, Gonna do some head work just not sure where yet or how much, Aslo AC delet, Im hoping to be somehwere around 200hp, Then I gotta get started on the nitrous kit 50-75hp shot wet, not sure IF I wanna go all out and do direct port or just use a simple fogger, I have a wet fogger kit that is 50 to 100hp so I might just test with that. I think my biggest problem is gonna be my Fuel and ignition managment, since I am using old school signal massagers to adjust the fuel curve, But so far the Power Prom 2 and my ARC2 have been doing just fine working together.
