I Want That Bov Sound

i was wondering which blow off valve i should use to get the phhhsssstttt sound when shifting gears and such. and will this require a new waste gate as well as a new BOV? so what should i get?

evo motorsports bypass valve that will make the sound but you would neet to have a MAF setup to hear it. and with the MAF setup the stock one will make the sound too. also you will not need a new wastegate. there are some bypass valves that vent to atmosphere. but i have read very little about people using them on our cars.

Do you want it done cheap or done right?

Cheap: pull your stock bypass valve out of the J-boot and plug the J-boot hole. You'll pull in some unfiltered air and you will run rich whenever the valve is venting air... so at idle and shifting.

Right: Convert to MAP based fueling, and buy a true BOV with adjustable preload. Install a better intake.

if you want to hear the turbo. and the release of pressurized air from the bov. all you need to do is buy a MAF kit.

not only will you ge thte sound but a hefty performance gain aswell.

LOL hey now, it's a legit question he asked.

He didn't want to know where to get the JDM wheels or Altezza taillights for the 951.

On that note, where do I get JDM wheels and Altezza taillights for my 951?

well autothority has the tested and true one.

whats good about this one is it is just a pluged in venture.

bad. it costs about 1700 and has now fuel control ability,

Lindseyracing.com has a good unit, with fuel controler.

whats good about the lindsey kit is that you can control the fuel delivery (being able to adjust for larger injectors.)
it is also a bit cheaper.

since i like the "stock look" I decided to go with the autothority one which i sand blasted and painted black.

I did not pay the 1700. instead i found a used one for $300.

My EVO motorsport bypass valve makes an obvious sound. Sounds like a BOV just not as loud and ricey. It also doesn't make me run rich.

While we are on this thread, does anyone know of a bypass valve that will mate up to the flange style mount?

Turbo XS RFL bov for the 1.8t audi fits fine and with the right spring holds boost well. I have never had any problems with the set up. No unfiltered air. No crazy readings. Much stronger than the factory one. Several track cars around here run the same setup. 6 years and 30+ track days and still holding perfect. My 2cents ....

Here's the thing: There's zero performance difference between a well sorted diverter valve setup and a well sorted BOV setup. None.

However, with a flapper-type AFM (or even a MAF), there's no way for the ECU to meter accurately when the valve does vent. The purpose of the diverter valve is to ensure that metered air does not escape from the manifold. Unless you're running a MAP sensor based ECU, there's no way to accurately meter for fuel when a BOV vents and you _will_ run rich during those times.

Your right, there is no performance gain. I never said there was one over durabilty. If anything one could argue that the bov tied back into the intake track will help spool the turbo faster. I choose to hear the sounds of the vehicle. I have had a track session where a vac line came loose and the first thing I noticed was the sound change from the bov.

Benefits/problems are nil for sure, as is the same with running (Maybe...) rich during upshifts or llifting whilst on boost. The very same kit I mentioned comes with bits to recycle it back in and I have run it both ways (just to satify all of the "end of the world" warnings and rumors. No differance in afrs were realized.... My 2 cents and worth only what was paid...
