Battery box holder, 33gr against 58gr of the stock one

Maybe a bit over-engineered, but I like it

This week I cut the lug nuts I bought a while ago as they have been way too long.
Not easy to find some aluminum ones with M14x1.5 and conical seat for my OZ-Racing rims.
So a little time spent on the lathe and they look much nicer. The color is fine, but the cutting surface of the machining will not stay that nice, so I have to anodize them again.

Because there is a little Jack Olsen in everyone of us, I went to Ikea yesterday to buy a nice item for my garage

Haha, PMSL So true!

In fact, I'll be driving past an Ikea tomorrow....and it's the same colour as my Colchester lathe!

Excellent work Roland, stunning machining and finishes. What's next on the list?

PS Just for your interest: They are aluminum 2mm thick...
would your buddy make some extra pairs of those ? I could use a pair maybe 2

I have one pair left, not anodized yet. Not sure if I should store or sell, and if I sell, what would be a fair price (don't forget, shipping would be from Switzerland, not cheap. Maybe it fit's in a letter...)?

What I can offer is to send the CAD etc. file to let cut yourself somewhere in your area

That has to be the understatement of the century. Wow.
I can't wait to see what your car looks like when finished and how much weight has been lost. Your skills and time to do this project are the envy of every enthusiast.

Nice!

Fresh sheet metal, fresh paint and plenty of fancy parts to bolt on! That's going to be a fun build!

Although my car is everything else, I do love understatement.

... Be patient Brian, you will some day in 2014 (at least my goal)

Thanks for the kind words

Those parts are mostly designed and made by myself, which means they are not proofed or fit any engineer standards. Therefore it could be some risk of failure etc. Further most of them took a lot of time due my possibilities and skills compared to the result and some went into the trash before finished

I don't think I can make some for a price which would make us both and time is very pricy for me

Do you mean a specific part here or generally?

PS haven't seen the color in real yet, but it's looks darker on the pics. It (should) is the same as before. At the beginning of the thread you can see it better

I know it isn't - because I think I've asked you before - but in the above pics, the paint looks SO close to my car, Horizon Blue...almost spooky. A trick of the light(ing)!

Great work as always; planning on doing more machining over the Christmas period Roland?

Cheers
S
