We get into EFI wiring harness and inspecting the engine plus a little fab work on my headers and intercooler.

My 930 motor is currently stripped down to the bare cam towers, heads, cylinder and case, I would love to be going as deep as you for a full rebuild. I'm looking for a cam & lifter overheating problem, I think we have a cause pinned but if we're wrong, I may be going deeper very soon
Have you checked your oil spray bar inside the cam tower? A few of my ports were clogged which meant inadequate oiling on the cam and rocker.

Hi Pete, thats exactly what led to the tear down, we suspect clogged cam spray bar, we'll be cleaning those thoroughly soon. If I hadn't decided to adjust the valves last month I wouldn't have noticed my cam and rockers badly worn on #2 & 5 cylinders.

Looking forward to watching your new video tonight!

Thanks, it's certainly time consuming but I think well worth the effort to help fellow 930 owners understand the process of such a big task.

Speaking of which my next video is live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNGsGDFRfts

New episode online

Started off with a GT30R (okay, technically a GTX30R) because that's what the online calculators say you should be running.
Then followed up with a GTX35R.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been playing catch up ever since getting home so havent had much time to sit down and put together a post... Till now!

Let's start with the completion of the engine.

We ended up bolting on the GTX 3076R with an .82 Hotside. It fits in the factory location but will require a different intake pipe since the inlet is 4-inches.

It also required fabbing up a new hot pipe to the intercooler. A turbosmart BOV was welded up there as well for ease of install rather than trying to fit something onto the intercooler. It also looks pretty damn cool there.

I also have to plug the Vibrant Vanjen clamp, that thing is amazing for tight spaces and applications such as this.

Here's a good shot of TurboKraft's EFI fuel rails and ID1000 injectors installed.

I also ended up installing a bunch of AEM sensors to interact with the AEM Infinity EMS. These will ensure that the EMS has monitoring capable for oil temp, pressure, fuel pressure, MAP and intake temp.

Also installed a Turbosmart FPR1200 fuel pressure regulator. I love how compact it is which gave me many options as to where to fit it but we decided on the side of the back of the intake manifold as it'll be close to the return fuel line.

For my clutch and flywheel I ended up buying a Spec Stage 2+ clutch which is rated for 575ft-lbs and the main reason for going with it was to ensure smooth engagement. I want to be able to enjoy driving this car without chatter or harsh engagement.

I was supposed to use a SPEC Aluminum flywheel which is 5lbs compared to the 9lb stocker but turns out that I need a steel flywheel because of the crank trigger needs pickup points which Chris had machined into the stock one.

In order to mate the trans flush with the engine, Chris had to notch the trans so that it would clear the crank trigger.

I ended up painting my intercooler black to match the rest of the engine bay. It was quite a bit of work but I think the result is well worth it.

If you look closely at the turbo you can see we utilized a Vibrant rubber coupler that reduces from 4-inch to 3-inch. It was a helluva tight fit but there weren't many other options since we wanted to use a 3-inch intake pipe.

Speaking of, John the fabricator at TurboKraft whipped up this intake pipe and used an AEM dry filter.

It too got the black paint treatment. I should also say that fitting a 3-inch pipe into the Vibrant coupler and between the frame and engine proved to be a huge PITA. It's actually touching the frame a bit so I may end up denting it in to fix that in the future.

And there you have it! The rebuild trans and engine are mated up ready to install.

I took a week off since my GF came to town so we went on a west coast trip while Chris and Mike hung the engine.

Mike also wired the car including the bad ass bulk head connectors.

The AEM Infinity EMS will reside up front in the passenger footwell and wait till you see the rats nest of wiring we pulled from the car. There was an old alarm installed and it was a MESS.

I forgot to mention for the fuel system we had to change out the -6AN line and switch to -8AN in between the AEM fuel pumps since they state that a minimum of -8 line has to be run. Nevertheless, routing the lines to the pumps proved pretty effortless as we ran it down the side of the chassis where the AC line used to reside.

Hi!
I got a clearance issue on my car. The problem is that I dont have room for the heater hose on the left side because of my inlet hose for the turbo...
I see that you installed one from Vibrant. I also have 4" into my turbo, and 3" to the airfilter.
Can you tell me if the Vibrant part number is 2785?

Vibrant Performance ::.

If it worked on your engine it should also work on mine

The problem with your intake is that the bend is too early. You need to extend the pipe up so that it will clear the heater hose.

I wish I had a photo to show you what I mean but I think I have video of it so you can see it in an upcoming episode.

Plus there is a rather large dent/bend in the factory "smaller" intake pipe at that point as well. Seems like some relief needs to be implemented to make that clearance.
Even with stock size pipes its an issue there.
