What Is It ?

Hello guys,

I get an engine as a core.
Serial is 6660338, red fan shroud , CIS , 6 bolt crankshaft...
Any idea what is this 2.7 , 3.0 ???

Thanks!

A third digit of 8, 9, 0 or 1 would be a '78-'81 3.0L. I would imagine that a 6 would indicate a '76 which would be a 2.7L.

The distributor on the 3.0L SC engines turns counterclockwise. Others turn clockwise. You could check that.

Look at the engine type number stamped on the the case just to the right of the fan housing next to the cam tower oil line.

If its a 2.7, you'll see a 911/xx. If its a 3.0, it will read 930/xx. The last two digits tell you what it is.

I recognize that #
it's a 1976 Carrera 3.0, 930/02. They used #s 666 0001 >>
the other Carrera engine for that year was the 2.7 911/83 which had #s 666 8001 >>

Thanks Bill!

So, this engine has a 70.4mm crank but with 6-bolts instead of 9 correct ?

Thanks!

Carrera 3.0 motors all had 6-bolt cranks.
