That can be a good solution with the ceramic. I want go another way, i change the diameter from the headers (heat-Box)
I want install the flex alu tubes (like original). Before i had headers from Fabspeed with the alu flex.

First Start

Before I started the engine for the first time after the Engine Conversion I have performed all points on the checklist according to Wayne's book.

After that i start it...

Porsche 930 3.4 First Start after Rebuilding - YouTube

and let it run for 20 minutes Idle between 1800 and 2000 U/min.

First Oil Change (by Wayne's instructions) he describes in the book that some think that this is exaggerated....i think not.

I also have this collector Fabspeed but he is modified to receive a discharge(dump) Précisionturbo PW66. Diameter internal of the collector is of 35mm, it is a little bit just for the 38mm in the admission, I would need your escape Rarly8 but with a v-band of 60 mm (PW66) in discharge(dump). My turbo is précision turbo 67/66 ar 0.82, The discharge(dump) of origin was not sufficient.

Find the Error

With the helpful support of brian (Rarly8) i check all possible source.

- oil line check ball is in place at the sending unit
- measure the flow of the oil to the turbo and the scavange flow back to the pump

First i check the check ball:

all right!

Second measure the flow: (the difference of cold and warm oil is huge)

The problem ist just with warm oil (more flow)

Flow-Test #1 cold Porsche 930 Scavange Pump cold start - YouTube
Flow-Test #2 warm Porsche 930 Scavange Pump hot start - YouTube

Measurements

The amount of 2.5 L/min Oil going through the K27/29! (measured at the outlet) The pump can`t pump that away to much oil.

I have the old line fitted with the old (original) banjo bolt ( internal diameter of 6mm),
the banjo bolt from Chris TurboKraft has a internal diameter of 8.5mm (for the Spring) and a 9mm Check Ball both measurements were the same.

Then i have changed the turbocharger from K27/29 to my 28 Jears old 3LDZ and the Problem was solved.

With the K27/29 i measured 2.5 L and with the 3LDZ 0.75 L/min. (warm)
My Friend has measured also with his K27/7200 0.8 L/min.

I had to put a restrictor of 1.5mm on the turbo oil feed line to stop my Holset from overfilling the scavenge side.

That was not the problem it is the K27/29 itself!
With the 3LDZ was all right!

I have send the Turbo back to Brian for check it

I have found a picture of my old K27/7200 (sold a few years ago) see at the oil outlet no hole
The K27/29 have a rectangular hole that looks not original, maybe thats the Problem.

K27/7200:

K27/29:

I talk with a turbo Guy from here. There are 124 versions of the Bearing housing with 4 different slide bearing for the K27 Turbo.

Then came the Turbo back from the repair:

The bearing housing was replaced as the original had been modified for use in a racing application requiring more flow than the standard 930 system.

Brian has reimburse my shipping cost as well

The Support and Help from Brian is absolut amazing!!!

Second Installing of the K27/29

I drive with the 3LDZ about 400 miles (run in the engine).
Then i change the oil and filter again (from 15W-40 to 10W-60).

That was the right time to install the K27/29 again (after the repair).

I have the turbo and engine over 500 miles (with max 0.4 bar) run in.

The car runs at 0.4 bar very good

The Sound from Brian`s Headers....

Hello 930/66,
With regard to(Compared with) my former(old) K27 / 29 which loaded(charged) from 4000 tr / mn, precision turbo loads(charges) much more early in approximately 2400 tr / mn, this is certainly due to the ceramic rotations. The car seems much more coupleuse to low diet(regime). My exit(release) admission turbo towards the heat exchanger(interchange) Ruf " modified by myself(by my care) " is in 3 " throughout. If that can help you for your turbo which has some oil in the body of admission, I had the same problem with mine, I had to forget to remove a cork which I had put to protect the engine when I had him(it) to defuse(unsettle) for the first time. The oil was blocked(surrounded) to go to the pump to oil of the camshaft. Maybe you have also forget something, needs to verify everything. Good luck!

3 weeks ago I have set the boost pressure to 1 bar for 50 Miles all fine / Turbo works good!
After that I've noticed the boost pressure builds on stutterly......an then blue smoke...oil.oil...oil.

First i cleaning all and change again the turbo to my old 3LDZ = test drive = no blue smoke

I have send the Turbo back to Brian for a second one....
we will see whats happen...now I'm waiting for a response

Hello 930/66 ! Well, at least you know where from comes the problem, even if it is irritating to have to clean everything as long as there is no break-in(breakage) OK, needs to put in perspective and to be patient.

New Turbo

Brian has given me an answer:

The failure #2 was due to the compressor nut coming loose.
A new turbo wil build and come to me for installing.
