I don't have an estimate. I only pointed out that the article posted only gives one side of the story. Nothing they stated is inaccurate, only biased by their reporting method of only reporting part of the story.

Solar and wind, farming, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, etc., all have methods to move tax liability into the future.

I don't take any media reports as being accurate until I do my own research. The Vox article is a perfect example of why I do so.

What makes you feel like this is the case? New residential construction is mandated to have solar panels on the roof. It will not be enough to supply the electrical power for the house. It has made new home construction much more expensive. I know a LOT of folks that lost their home in a fire and can't afford the solar panel vig

It looks to me the companies are doing exactly as required. They monitored. They reported. They have/are taking corrective action.

Shell said that it had used the monitoring data at its Deer Park refinery to "identify a single operational activity near the fence line that drove the outcome, conduct an investigation on the cause and apply corrective measures."

The company added that as of the fourth quarter of 2019, the facility's rolling annual average is 6.99 micrograms per cubic meter, which is below the EPA threshold of 9.

Ohio-based Marathon Petroleum said in a statement it had traced its high emissions to a relief valve, fixed the issue and gone even further: "In addition to correcting the one-time relief valve situation, we have installed additional emissions controls on several of our storage tanks and deployed mobile monitoring sensors that provide real-time emissions data, so we can identify potential sources and address them."

In a one-sentence statement, Valero pointed out that its current benzene monitoring averages are below the threshold.

a $20k solar setup adds little to the cost of a house in California - and the owner gets that back in reduced electrical bills

dumping your pollution on the public harms their health - it is most certainly a subsidy whether done legally or illegally

Crapitalism consists of Externalizing costs, while keeping profits.

It is not only capitalism. Is socialist oil production less polluting? Is the battery manufacturing provess fron mining to final product non polluting?

If you feel strongly about the subject you should disconnect from the grid.

He feels strongly about trolling. He is on the supply side.

I don't even care a little bit about what Don has to say, that is why I have so many of his screen names on ignore.

I don't play roulette and I don't like volatile stocks with a highly emotional component factored into their price. That said I sure wish I had bought shares when this thread opened. If you are patient, the price will come around and as shown here, you can make serious cash ( see Sammy). I like the long term Tesla prospects a lot. Musk is certainly a bit crazy but he knows how to play this game and his successes greatly outweigh his failures.

Like Bezos, Musk is the kind of CEO that people love to hate but in the end it is these maverick CEO types that transform markets.

All of the big $$ in the future is going to be in clean energy and mega commerce, like Amazon, IMO. Fossil fuel stocks and any old technology is going to be a loser.

There is no such thing as clean energy, except sunshine. Solar energy just pushes the pollution to Chinese manufacturing areas. I bet that supply chain is in disarray with the coronavirus.

All forms of energy used to keep our houses comfortable, and push our cars around, and keep the businesses running and the farms operating require lots of energy in usable forms. They all create pollution. Coal is real dirty, but it is cheap and abundant. Same for petroleum. Wind energy requires lots of windmills changing the skyline, and lots of maintenance and they are expensive to install.

Nuclear is the real answer but the public learned of Nukes from Hiroshima and think it will happen at every plant. Nuclear is far from cheap, but can be done with Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors but that will cost a lot to do.

Nuclear fusion is the great hope but it has been "20 years out" for the last thirty years, and it will make Sodium-cooled Fast Reactors look cheap.

Maybe someday we will have cheap clean energy, but don't hold your breath waiting for it.

60 years. They said fission was the bridge to fusion

might be big $$ in the future for liquid fuels, bio-fuels, etc.

aren't you involved in that, sammy?

as to clean, PV solar is much much cleaner than any fossil fuel w.r.t. CO2 emissions
