Reflecting on the action between Charles and Max after the first pit stops, I realized Charles was managing Max. He knew he couldn't keep him behind in the first corner, but used the next DRS zone to put himself back into the lead until his advantage was such that Max no longer had DRS on the main straight.
He admitted as much in the post race interview. When was the last time someone 'managed ' Max?
On the other hand, Max said he was not happy with the balance of the car. Looking forward to next weekend.
Best

Lewis will be there in the end, bad wardrobe or not. My prediction is that he will take over and Ferrari won’t have the consistency. Max will be back as well but man that’s not a good way to start the season.

Great race! Good to see the aero works and cars can follow, will make for a good season. Congrats to Kevin M and Hass, right choice for a driver.

Really happy for Ferrari and Haas. I don't think Red Bull is responsible for the battery in their car. I would think that is on Honda.
Per this F1 commentator on Twitter, it seems like it was a fuel pump issue. This guy has all kinds of interesting insights into the sport. I wonder what our Captain Ahab feels about his posts.

It is very apparent that the McLaren overall design has major flaws . Based on testing/qualifying/race pace they are way off . Reminds me of last year's Haas car . Can this be fixed with aero bolt on changes ? Will more power fix it ? It is crazy how far off they are .

Haas and Alfa Romeo to me have made great strides forward . Their task to improve from where they are now is much easier than what McLaren has ahead of them . It will be interesting to see how consistent these two teams can be .

Alpha Tauri/Aston Martin not sure how good or bad they are . Maybe after next week we will know more. We all know Mercedes will continue to get better and Red Bull will fight back also . Ferrari is the spoiler. They have pace/handling/reliability based on one race . If that continues it will be an interesting season.

It will be interesting to see who moves forward this weekend and who falls back . Lots of data to pour over and not much time to make parts . I bet a lot of overtime pay this week 😁

With much credit to the Ferrari drivetrain, which appears very strong.

McLaren was the only team starting on mediums, then to hards at the first stop. Seems odd and didn't play out very well.

The announcers kept saying that Mercedes engines were in 6 of the bottom 7 cars (or something like that). Not sure if that under performance is down to MB engines of crap aero.

I was thinking during race, the last few years the mid pack was far more interesting. With some exceptions it didn't seem that way yesterday.

This could be a great year if 3, possibly 4 teams compete for race wins on a regular basis.

This year's car is like the last one that Eric Boulier was responsible for. Which begs the question: Will McLaren fire someone over this years's car? It would have to be Zak Brown. Easily the slowest car on the grid last weekend. It was so bad, I think they need a B spec car, which the budget cap won't allow. It's going to be a long long season. The car is that bad.

Just my .02, but I bet a lot of US based fans are fair weathered and will bolt when Lewis Hamilton-Las.kr,meoihn+ retires.

Maybe, just maybe, possibly if we are lucky, they will show some more of the after race interviews and not cut to a replay of a corn hole game or some replay of the 1980s basketball game. We can hope.

We in Canada get the pre and post race shows on Sky. I’m a fan but seldom watch it all. Was fun seeing Steiner with a smile after last year. 😀

Well. Yeah. All of the fans only tune in to watch Lewis. We have to know how to dress, that's why.

I was surprised at the COTA race last year how many people I talked to who were new fans from Drive to Survive. I was equally surprised at the first COTA race how many hardcore F1 fans there are in the US so I think we’re safe.

As far as ESPN coverage goes, I’m ecstatic that we get a commercial free race and the pre-race coverage isn’t bad either. It’s a win for me and I buy Mother’s products because of it.

Anyone get F1TV to work in the USA?

It does not work on Safari, not on Amazon, and not on Apple TV.

Total waste of $$$$ because I bought a 1 year subscription.

Something is not right on your end. I created my account on an iPad using Safari and I watch content on my Apple TV using the F1TV app without issue. I’m wondering if you might have a setting on your router which is blocking access possibly?

I think it's an old version of Safari.

Either that, or Apple just sucks donkey balls ever since Steve Jobs died.
