I remember when they were the best run team in the pit lane. So long ago, now…

Great overtaking, many passes for the lead. How many times have we seen so many different teams in the lead?
And the Ferrari strategist is just astounding bad.

I just can't believe the poor decisions Ferrari make week in and week out . Too much pasta ? Too stubborn ? Just plain stupid ? Very strange . You would think in the thousands of meetings they must have someone would step forward with a plan to pull their heads out of their butts .

As soon as I saw hard compound tires going on Charles's car I said out loud: big mistake, WTF are you doing?.
I mean, if I can see it I really don't know why they can't. That was literally Ferrari's race to win and they did everything they could to throw that away. Brilliant result from Max and RB.

Yes, Ferrari sabotaged their race with the hard tire decision. No doubt.
After the race, when Toto was being interviewed, they asked him what he thought was behind Ferrari’s decision to choose the hard tires. He said that Ferrari used an extra set of Mediums on Friday (FP1/2) so they didn’t have another set of Mediums for today. And if they switched to Soft they would have had an extra stop. Which, in the end, they did anyway. So sad that one of the best 2022 cars, driven by two highly capable drivers, are suffering in the race finishes because of bad strategic decisions during the race. Maybe during the August break they’ll be making some personnel changes. I heard that one of Aston Martin’s strategists is leaving (today was her last race). |

Bottas was on hard tires as well with similar poor results.

So wife and I went on a trip with another family this weekend and my friend saw that I was watching qualifying yesterday and the race today. I let out a groan when Ferrari put Leclerc on the hards. I had to explain to him the nuances of F1, strategies with tires etc. He's a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, so the analogy that stuck with him is that Ferrari are the Cowboys of F1. They both are the most prestigious team in their sport, a great history whose best years are behind them, and when they are threatening to have a great season, they make terrible decisions that ruins it for them.
How many blunders can a team make in a year? I bet even Max wishes he had some more competition. Great race though.

I know Max was voted driver of the day,
But I think Ham had a fantastic drive also and did well from start to finish.

Fernando Alonso has signed a multi year deal with Aston Martin to replace Vettel. This should open the door to backfill with Piastri at Alpine .

Man, that deal went together quickly. Just a few days ago Alonso was saying he was happy where he was and he wasn’t in a hurry to make a decision.

Only the Scuderia could qualify 2nd and 3rd, and still be on the back foot to the cars starting 7th, 10th, and 11th. Whichever engineer decided that the hard tire was the way to go should not be allowed to make those decisions in the future.

Would you rather drive for Alpine or Aston Martin? Hopefully Fred knows something I don't, because that's not the choice I would have made. Or maybe it wasn't his choice.

Cole Pearn is running B and Bs in BC. He could run the Ferrari team better like he did for Furniture Row winning championships. Guess Alpine on hard tires wasn't enough convince the Italians
