Seems that all the hybrid/regen/battery technology is what adds weight, size, and complexity, ie. costs. Sure......safety structures/crush zones have added some size, but I don't think that is the majority factor (as shown by IndyCar). A car who's only power source is the combustion engine should be significantly smaller/lighter. The FIA could still maintain enviro-sensitivity by mandating a synthetic/renewable fuel. I'll defer to the Captain if I'm wrong. |

Just because it's beautiful to watch...
No commentary, just the feed and timing.

Glorious! Thank-you for sharing.
Looks like a Minardi at the end.

Anyone interested in a couple of used Ferrari engines?
At least the boys in scarlet got an early start on packing up for the trip to Montreal. George Russell spoke well when he said, first you must finish. Maybe next weekend. Best Les

Baku is usually fun, but not this time... So, yawn, Verstappen world champion. Ferrari imploding as usual.
The only surprise this season is Russell handing his a$$ to Hamilton, consistently, and Mercedes still not having come back. Porpoising looks painful. Last edited by Deschodt; 06-13-2022 at 07:43 AM.. |

Hamilton had quite a difficult time climbing out of the car at the end of the race, and he was walking very stiffly, with his back causing problems. Montreal is probably gonna suck for Mercedes as well, as they were saying the track will be bumpy like Baku. But Mercedes seems to have addressed their pace issues. They aren’t front row fast, but definitely the fastest of the mid-pack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

^ LOL! Hamilton always has to make such a show of his "suffering". He requires so much special handling by Toto, it's ridiculous.

So what was the reason so many F engines took a dump?

I suspect the folks in Maranello are beginning to figure that out about now.

According to Binotto: Ferrari prefers fast unreliable F1 car rather than other way around.
I guess that's one way to look at it ![]()

Thought it would be interesting to hear some guesses from commentators but strangely they made no such effort that i heard. maybe oil pump or cooling not adequate at lower rpms and streets courses possibly mean more time at said low rpms?
Thought the duct tape wing fix was awesome. Commentators were horrified and convinced multiple deaths and mayhem would ensue.

Baku is not a low rpm race .about 2/3s of the lap is full throttle.
I watched the race on F1 and their commentators thought the race stewards were being overly cautious. Everybody has an opinion. Best Les

I like Martin’s quote on bouncing and Christmas turkeys. lol
“I think the team (Mercedes) are playing this quite hard in that they want some changes made, the drivers want some changes made, because the Mercedes is particularly bad,” Brundle told Sky Sports News. “The teams that have got it sorted out are clearly saying that’s Mercedes’ problem, it’s not Formula 1’s problem. “Of course, the team can fix it by raising the car but then they lose a huge amount of performance. They have had to sacrifice comfort for performance and what’s surprising really is Mercedes can’t seem to get a handle on what actually looks like quite an excellent car if they could just unlock it. “I think Christian is saying more or less exactly the same as what I’m saying, it’s a problem for the teams to sort out. “It needs managing, but to ask the other teams to change the regulations to help Mercedes is a bit like asking a turkey to vote for Christmas. “But I’m not underplaying what George Russell and Lewis Hamilton are going through because it does look particularly painful and the Ferrari drivers, just at their crucial braking points, that just looks plain tricky to me – I don’t know how they go into the corners, frankly.” |
