I could loan you my "ol tom cat. He brings me all kinds of presents, mice, squrill, possume, and a few strays.(well peices of them) He is laid back and very easy going,he just will not tolerate any incroachment into his yard. Living in the country he stays busy at night.
All kidding aside your local animal control officer should be able to loan you a have-a-heart trap.

That's all it takes.
Couldn't agree more... How many of you suggesting killing could look a 6 year old girl in the eye & lie when she comes to your door asking if you've seen her lost kitty? It's cat breeding season, you dolts! If this cat has an owner, somebody should educate him on the value of neutering. We once had a neighbor's cat causing problems around here. Had a chat with the neighbor, discovered he'd been on unemployment for months.
We took his cat to the vet on our nickle, problem solved. Sheesh!

Porsche-O-Phile,

I have no problem with, and for my entire life, have had INDOOR cats. Outdoor cats live shorter lives (cars, disease, coyotes etc) and kill millions of birds, lizards etc. every year. There is no reason to let your urban house cat outside.
Bad things can happen to good cats outside. End Rant.

Thanks for the responces guys. A pot of water would likely had been the best choice. However, I didnt think I had time to fill a pot of water. I know the other cat owners on here will agree when I say that these anaimals become a part of your family and if your cat was making noises you have never heard anything even close to before, it is hard to think of what exactly to do.

Because I live in the county, the pound will not help me. They told me to trap the cat and then they will come get it. I think they hold it for a set period of time before they euthanize.

I have run it off several times in the past. it keeps coming back. Well, I have just challenged it. The problem will be solved soon.

What is wrong with traping it? Are you going to tell me that it would be better off running around someone elses neighborhood. haveing kittens... and continuing the cycle over and over and over again.

I am 100% sure the cat is feral. the one and only solution to the problem is to get them "fixed" or to kill them.

I too am an animal and I will not put up with this damn cat any longer.

So, you're too dull to figure out how to use a "havaheart" trap?
Or...too cheap to buy one?

If the cat returns on a regular basis, then it probably has no six year old little girl waiting at home for it. No caring cat owner would allow such a thing. If it continues to be a nuisance to you, you have no obligation to its owner, assuming it even has one. It has damaged your property, injured your pets while on your property, and presumably cost you some money on both fronts. I would kill it without hesitation, then chop its head off and put it on a stake in my front yard as a warning to all my neighbors. But that's just me...

Don't listen to the naysayers. A gun is a wonderful tool to do away with unwanted pests.

Trust me, you don't want to shoot a cat. I had a friend that had a sick cat & couldn't afford to take it to the vet. He lived way out in the sticks & asked me to put it down with my 40 cal. Glock. I'll save you all the details, but it wasn't a pleasant, even with a good shot, it was loud, messy, & prolonged. If faced with that again, I would pay the vet myself.

You catch the cat and I'll be willing to contribute towards getting its shots, any neutering required and relocation, if possible. If I didn't already have two I'd offer to even try adopting it.

FWIW I let my cats come and go more or less as they please. One stays in by choice (only goes as far as the porch), the other one likes to roam about. The only real threats I see to them are the jackasses that like to drive down my alley at 70 miles an hour - the first one of them that hits one of my pets, my neighbors' pets or one of the neighborhood kids is getting a tire iron in the face or worse. At least the cats are smart enough to avoid the cars. Point is, I don't see why it's so bad to let cats out in an urban environment if they have a point of safe refuge and their shots, etc. My "roaming" cat is a pretty tough SOB too - not fat, but very big/stocky and has won every conflict with interlopers on "his" turf thus far.

If it is on my property, f%cking with my cats, pissing/spraying on my deck, eating my cats food and waking me up at night......It is a dead kitty, no ifs, ands or buts! If it is not me pulling the trigger, it will be my wife or daughters. Same holds true for skunks, opposums, coons and woodchucks.

PS:
Porsche-o-phile,
If you hit MY cat on the road, I will not hit you with a tire iron. Instead, I will apologize and offer to repair any damage to your car it may have caused.
