I won't get upset with the results of who gets elected, it's the propositions that have me worried.
Who are these freaking morons who sign the petitions to get these toilet paper proposals on the ballot? what's worse, the fruits and nuts of Kalifornia are likely to vote yes on all these stupidass props. One is a $20 billion bond measure to rebuild some freeways that will end up costing $40 billion. This is after they voted for prop M to fund the freeway projects several years ago, but the sleezy polititions took the money puyt in the general fund, and then used it for everything else. Anywho, the advertisements for this particular money grab say that "it's just like usung your credit card. We can rebuild the freeways and pay it off a little every year, without raising taxes". Yep, that $40 bil will just magically appear. There are millions of people in this fine state that will hear that stupid ad and say, "now that sounds like a really good idea". Here's your sign. We have a $4 billion a year tax proposal that will drive up gas prices or drive oil production out of mexifornia, oh yeah that's a really good idea until we have to wait in line for gasoline rations, or have to remember if we have an odd or even licence plate. They will get what they wish for and then complain about it. Then the bleeding heart health nazis want to tax cigarettes another $2.60 a pack, even though they are taxing them over $2.50 a pack already. The end result? some people will quit, but most will buy their cigarettes in Arizona or Nevada or Mexico or on the reservation or through the internet and won't pay ANY california state tax. The great state of Kalifornia will actually LOSE tax revenue if this one passes, because they will lose out on the ridiculous taxes they are already getting after they go too far. Plus the money goes to a bunch of special interest groups (who sponsored the prop, go figure) and only 10% will go to anti-smoking programs. Another gem of an idea. Many of the people who vote for all these propositions probably don't even know what a bond is or that it means borrowing money that has to be paid back. They probably think it is just plucked off the government's money tree and it will all grow back. Same people who have to file for bancruptcy when they max out a dozen credit cards, "oh you mean I actually have to pay that all back? I was just going to get more of them". AAAARRRGGHGHHHH. Stupid people piss me off. "Oh I'm stressed" ..... Kosmo Kramer or Jerry, caint remember. |

It is all about Bill - he is the best and brightest politician in a hundred years. He want back in the White House real bad. He is going to work it hard for the next two years - don't underestimate him. Also, the aging boomers will go for them in a big way. They may pull it off. |

Years ago Bill Clinton awoke and looked out the white house window at the freshly fallen blanket of snow on the ground, and noticed that someone had spelled out "F U bill" in urine.
He was outraged that someone had peed on his lawn and ordered the secret service to find out who did that. A few days later they came back with good news and bad news. They couldn't trace the urine, but they did find out it was in Hillary's handwriting. ba da bump. |

I hate bond measures at state level. I only vote for local school bonds and my kids are all old. I wish the leg would just do their job, instead of submitting measures for vote. Schwarzenegger did not think about that with his stupid props. |

How many propositions?
Here in AZ we had twenty of them!! Some were inane, a few like limiting local govt annual property tax increases made sense.

Think we've got 9 or so. There's the "1A through 1E" ones which are basically about bond measures to pay for rebuilding infrastructure, then there are some odd ones which SHOULD be common sense (like, do you want a new property tax? Duh.) and a couple toughies like $4B for alternative energy research, etc.

We had 1 bond measure to build additional school buildings.
Our taxes went up 8% this year, based on revaluation of our houses. Why do we need a bond float to pay for the schools?

I think planning for new buildings is never in the equation for school board budgets or state budgets. And that is because they might not be needed, so no one really can afford to put money away for something that might not happen.

Funding for schools in our district went up 8% (5% over inflation) plus the additonal taxes generated by the new construction. We don't need a bond. We need responsible spending.

Big city public schools are a total waste of money.
Around these parts, for less money per student, a catholic/charter school kid gets a far better education, and more importantly IMO- a far better environment- than he ever will in a big city public school. |

How quickly some forget, or just mix up the truth.
The governator made promises in his campain. He said he would get certain things done. the people of this great state (sic) said that's a good idea, so they elected him. Believe it or not, he actually tried to keep his promises. I know, it's a strange concept. Problem was, the democrats in Sacramento said no, we won't go along. He said the people of Kalifornia want these things and I promised i would do them, so go along or I will take it to the people to vote on. Then, the evil vilains stepped in. The teachers (teamsters, same thing), the nurses, the firemen. All of them (and their unions) wanted more, more, more. Greed in action. Oh the lies they told. Over and over again on all the radio and TV stations. they said things that made me wonder how they could keep a straight face, and made me thankful I wasn't a part of any of those organizations. How shameful it must be to taint what was once an honerable profession. Arnold said you already have more than your share, be happy with what you have. No no no, we want more. More benefits for life. More pensions for widows, more staffing, more money etc. They spent an incredible amount of money on political ads and campains, almost bankrupting some of the unions. One every 5 minutes at least, sometimes the same ad over and over again because they had more money that time slots. The did manage to brainwash quite a few of the mush heads in this state, and turned the election. Arnold said, OK, you said you wanted those things but obviously you changed your mind, so I'll try to give you what you want (this week). He has managed to shake it off and is still trying to fix stuff for us, despite our fickled ways. |

Reagan signed gun control. Nixon signed gun control. Bush I instituted gun control without legislation, and Bush II refuses to change that making him a gun controller as well. You'll know taxes have been cut when government takes in less revenue; that hasn't happened under any Republican president in the post World War Two era as far as I know. But, you're correct on your initial assertion; both are equally corrupt. |

I'm kinda bummed about the House, but kinda excited that we'll have Pelosi as Speaker. This has to be great for the GOP in '08. And maybe the GOP will get their act together by then too. I'll be really bummed if Ehrlich loses in MD. He's the best thing that ever happened to that state.

Schwarzenegger will long hold the record for taking the largest bribe of any governor in US history: $8 million. And, even after he was busted for it, decided to keep the $1 million already paid to him. And, like a good politician, he did exactly what he was paid to do. I imagine anyone who gets all their news from the Faux, NewsMax and Drudge sources knows nothing about this. Let's see if anyone on Pelican knows the story... I'm betting: no.

Why would Ahnold, who's worth in the nine figures, need a bribe in the seven figures?
