Based on what we know today it would have been interesting for you or one of the other hardcore guys to have modified a 914/6 GT clone for the hill. Based on autocross TTD results for the past several years something like that might have been better than the silver car on the racecourse.

Chris, your car looks really bad a** ! The roofline with all the smooth metal is very cool. Must have been all grins and giggles first time back on the "course" = very exciting.

Actually I want to give a special thanks to Dave and TRE for the help and assistance.

After many years I got to know Dave B. a little better and I wish now that I had gotten to know him better years ago. He is a great guy.

At California Adventure Park next to Disneyland is a ride that is supposed to emulate Mulholland Drive. We have talked about it before in this thread. It's called Mulholland Madness. Some of you may have ridden on it. I missed it luckily, but just saw what it was like on Youtube.

The designers must have been out to lunch when creating that ride. Even the slowest Geeks, Squids, and Silverlake Squirrels went much faster than that. What a mundane, tame, and dissapointing waste of (bad) creativity.

And they call it "Madness"?

They need a real demo ride on Mul from one of us. Like Radu or Jason for example.
Both of these guys will give a passenger a real taste of Mulholland Madness. I have driven with both of them and they are fast.

The idea was to have small kids enjoy a beach amusement park ride similar to what you may have ridden in the 60's, not terrify the lil buggers till they puke on mom and dad.
I thought the ride was closed (along with most of Cali Adventure) as they revamp for more exciting attractions.
Still having the name was kinda cool, even if the ride is lame

Hi Dave, I agree completely that the name is cool. It's nice that Mul has so much notoriety that it's at Disneyland.

The amusment park rides similar to what we may have ridden in the 60's were terrifying. Remember Pacific Ocean Park? I remember my mom crying for an hour after riding on that old wooden coaster on the pier. The next year a car-load went off the tracks into the Pacific. (Those tracks felt awefully loose). The Park closed soon thereafter.

That's probably why I compare the new Mulholland Madness ride to real fun.
By the way, I was thinking, it would be cool to video you with the Evil Cockroach on Mul in the racecourse. Just for old times sake. What do you think?

Two injured in Mulholland Drive accident

WOODLAND HILLS - A man with critical injuries was freed from the wreckage of a two-car collision just south of Woodland Hills tonight, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 22400 W. Mulholland Drive about 9:15 p.m., said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies.

After firefighters freed a 39-year-old man in one of the vehicles, he was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Davies said.

The other driver, a 29-year-old man, was taken to hospital with minor injuries, she said.

The circumstances of the crash were not immediately released.

Here's where it happened. This is the other side of dirt Mulholland in Woodland Hills. It's a small stretch that does lend itself to higher speeds... It also can be a bit tricky at normal speeds. No curbs and a litle ditch on each side. If a tire goes off the road, the ditch will pull you.

Is the parking lot in the middle bottom of the photo where Supercar Sunday is held? I wonder if one of the drivers in the accident shows his car at that venue.

Jeff sent me this email about a super cool small engine. You guys can appreciate it too. A lot of work to create this machine.


Here is the latest in the Conley line of V-8 engines. It sports the Stinger 609 name badge (6.09 cubic inches or almost 100 cc) and is the culmination of almost 30 years of knowledge gained in the designing and construction of model engines. The bore is 1.00, with a .970 stroke. It weighs about 11.25 pounds and measures approximately 14" long (from the front timing belt to the end of the transmission), 6" wide, and 8-1/4" tall. The supercharged version will be about 10" tall. There are two separate "Gerotor" style pumps to move all the oil.
6+ hp at 9,500 rpm for the normally aspirated version.

That thing is amazing. Part of me is amazed by the craftsmanship and ingenuity, and part of thinks "this guy has WAY to much time on his hands".

This is the one that amazes me the most. I saw this several years ago at Concourso Italiano and heard it run. It had me giggling like an idiot it was so cool.

Just a thought, the So Cal All Porsche gathering (see sticky at the top of the page) might make for a great coming out party for the KOTH Carrera. Certainly a more appreciative audience than say, the Coffee Roaster Sunday meets.

If that doesn't work out, where/when might interested locals get a look at this beast?

Some small details are being completed for the photo shoot that is being done by Excellence Magazine.

Peter Linsky, the famous automotive author has done a magnificent story about Mulholland Racing and Porsches.

The photo shoot will be in the first few days of March and will highlight Mulholland Drive and a certain old Porsche Battlewagon RSR that was specifically made for it's tight turns, short straightaways, and it's bad bumpy surface.

When that is complete, we will have a meeting on Mul one evening, if anyone's interested.
