I thought that I would remove the spare tire since I probably won't be running with it on Mul or on the Streets of Willow. Talk to you soon buddy about the other 911. ![]() |

One guy commented on the roll cage saying it was over the top, and too extreme. Another said the car looked unique and asked if I drive it on a racetrack. I answered, "Yes, but it's made for only one racetrack". Heh, heh. Then I went on to explain the book called The Mulholland Experience and this thread. Seems like lots of us like cars in general because several customers started telling me about their cars and how much fun they have with them. I felt compelled to remind them to come up to Mulholland to enjoy the drive. |

Jeff sent me a video of a 917 at Le Mans this morning.
When I went to see it, I found this video of two jokers that got Mulholland closed down for their own fun. Looks like it is do-able after all. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Super-Cars-Exposed-Racing_172390.htm |

This is Mulholland Hwy. Easier to close than Mulholland Dr. Especially if you are a T.V./movie production.

When we were CRE "regulars", Bob Hall was friends with the promo car division at Chrysler in Burbank.
So when some of his friends at USC film school needed police car and some one to drive it for their student production assignment, guess who Bob picked ? Lil ol me. The crew got a permit to film on mulholland highway from just northh of the rock store to the top, and on Latigo Canyon on a series of curves with a large dirt turn out (still there today) Now that was a real blast getting to drive a "police car" at speed chasing the bad guy. Shame they had to edit out some of the shots as the driver (me) was grinning ear to ear ! ![]() The drive home with Bob was even more hilarious, but that story will have to wait for another day Yep- these days you can get a film permit to close down uninhabited sections of Mul, and will need proof of insurance, description of proper traffic control (rent a retired lapd motorcycle cop) , etc etc

Here's a fun video, in car 956 at Fuji Speedway with ongoing commentary from the driver. Good one!
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Porsche-956-at-Fuji_639887.htm 917 at Le Mans http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Porsche-917-Onboard-in-Le_38912.htm Saturday while at the food trucks near Fire station 99 (open house for fire station day) I met a guy named Nick who lives across Mulholland from the station. He was talking about being a member of the MRA and was probably thinking that no one knows what that is. He is a little older than myself so we never crossed paths even though he has lived on Mulholland since 1948. My parents bought their land on Mulholland in 1953 where I was raised. I told him about The Mulholland Experience and asked him if he knew who Charley was. He didn't seem to know anything about Charley and his Vette. He did recognize some of the other names that I mentioned like Jay Weinstein and Craig Cutler. He loves cars too, and has many mini coopers and other cars that he restores. He said he just sold one of his minis to Jay Leno. Mr. Leno lives on Coldwater I believe, not far away. Some MRA members may know who Nick is, please speak up if so. I will see Nick again sometime and since he is an unknown, it would be nice to get a reference about him. His stories could be added to the second edition if he is interested. Dave B., do you know who Nick is? Last name is Guten or something like that. |

Hi Chris
i do not remember right away. There were not many from MRA that i knew. They were up there before CRE. Perhaps if i met him again, the grey cells would wake up ![]() The MRA guys that i knew were Jay Weinstein, Dale Shore, Jim Jonas, Jorn Oulie, Randy, Harvey , and that was about it as they were all Mini maniacs and still came up to play when MRA basically slipped away.
