I've been getting that a lot too. I think it's ok to deviate from topic here. Seems it happens pretty often.

Here we are at Horseshoe. Lots of cars going by.
It was fun to see Radu's electric Tesla car. Very nice.

After a leisurely drive to the overlook in the newly paved section, we talked cars while looking at the bright lights below in the Valley.

This was the first time in over 20 years the ol' Carrera has seen Mulholland at night at a car meeting. It was a lot of fun.
Dave told me that when I took off spiritedly, he could hear the exhaust howl echoing off of the mountains. Just like the old times.

If you are using FF, clear you cache, close the browser and re-open. I had the same problem.

I stumbled onto this forum looking for someone I hadn't seen in years on an unrelated topic. I was also up on the hill mostly as a passenger from 73 till about 79. I remember some of the guys from the CRE, even though I was a bit younger. I used to drive up there in a white 64 Mustang just hanging though, not running.

I used to come up there quite a bit with Doug Heffner from the Varna row of shops he and his dad owned. Anyone know how to reach doug or know his whereabouts, please shoot me an email from my profile? I lost touch with him around 1990. I used to assist Doug from time to time at his shop when he needed some help.

Last year I came across some boxes that had a bunch of pics from the grandstand and Beaumont spots of cars and folks. I'll have to dig and see if I can locate them in storage and post them here.

Welcome aboard, Andy.
I can't help you with reaching your old buddy, but the pics you have would be more than welcome! Can't wait to see them.

I'm friends with Doug, he is very knowledgable about the old days (CRE and before) on Mulholland.
He lives in Acton and his MG sits in his living room. Man, who would put their car in the house, heh, heh.
Please private message me and I will forward your info to Doug. I was going to call him today anyway.

Doug asked if you were the same Andy who bought his 1955 Buick, worked as a musician, you're big with black hair, married to Laura, and worked for the actor that was on the Jeffersons tv show?

Well dagnabit! That is me! Description is a little off though... I had big black hair and dated Laura, but close enough! Will PM you... Thanks!

And yes it makes total sense that Doug would park his car in his house...

Carrerax, From a story aspect it's a duesy, but wasn't good for me, or from what I remember to Doug H too. That's one incident I'd rather just put out of memory. Let's just say deadbeats with a lot of money... Not so much the actor but his whole team around him.

Porsche Crest city lights

Here is one of Jeff's photos from the other evening. He asked me to post to the thread.
City lights are visible in the backround, cool night.

Next week?

Porsche Crest Old time racing

This link was sent to me by Larry O' Rourke, he's the guy who lived above the Sweeper.
Cool racing from the old days (1964).
Check out the Cooper doing rollovers and the huge american muscle leading european cars.. until a flat left it a "Galaxy" away.

Fun clip. The #57 Lotus-Cortina is Jimmy Clark and the #58 is Pete Arundell. I believe the Galaxie is driven by "Gentleman" (now Sir) Jack Sears. The yank tanks had the grunt but the British poppers had the handling.

Cheers,
Kurt O.
