WOW! Just Wow... watching all those people hanging and half-falling out of cars the were rolling at speed and the three passengers in VW Beetle Cabriolet that almost lost it. Wow.

Did people not wear seatbelts even on the track, in the '70's?

No kidding! What's the justification for a $1K fine for that?!

Social acceptability. Or lack thereof, rather.

It's socially unacceptable for abled bodied people to park in handicap spots, so that's fined heavily. But, as a society, we don't really care about texting or cellphone use while driving, so it's deemed a lesser infraction.

We're way beyond driving laws having any true reflection upon safety.

Unhappy Over the side in the Esses

Loud sound woke me at around 4:45 this morning. Soon thereafter, two LAPD copters were overhead at the top of the Esses with their searchlights on wide beam.

It is now just after 7:30 am and they are still hovering, now without their searchlights on.
News copters have joined them.

This morning's news reported the car as Charlie Sheen's car. It had gone over the edge or was pushed over the edge they said.
At first all occupants were accounted for, later the driver seemed to be missing. This news is not confirmed as yet.

They went to Charlie Sheen's house and he reported the car stolen.
I hope all is well with Charlie Sheen.

Channel 7 reported the incident at or near Java. It appears it actually occured a couple hundred yards east of Java in the Esses.
More news is forthcoming as Mulholland is closed while an investigation is under way.

Chris, what was the loud sound... the helicopters coming over on the way to the Esses, or something else... a driver losing control of his Benz followed by its rolling, etc.?

John, it sounded kind of like a deep loud rattling. Almost like the house windows shaking from strong wind. But no strong wind has arrived as yet from the coming storm and it sounded oddly different.

It was odd enough to get me out of bed and look out the window to get a view of the nearby Esses on Mulholland. Then I saw and heard the Police Helicopters with their massive beams on. I knew something was up, so the TV was turned on to check out the news.

Maybe a small tremor... or military jets a few miles offshore.

Hmmm... this report I just ran across said it was a Bimmer...

Troubled actor Charlie Sheen was woken up to shocking news that his SUV had been stolen and crashed down a 100-foot cliff.

Sheen first knew something had happened when he was woken at 4am on Friday by operators of his car alarm system telling him his car had crashed.

Sheen reportedly then alerted his own security team who discovered his BMW SUV had been stolen.

Officials later found the SUV at the bottom of a 100-foot cliff off Mulholland Drive.

Los Angeles Fire Department Erik Scott said 32 Los Angeles firefighters including two helicopters were involved in the search-and-rescue mission.

An infrared scanner was also used to search for any victims at the crash scene but so far none have been found. Police are still investigating and hunting for a suspect.

That's comforting.
A search in my neighborhood for a hunted criminal.

The HK is out and loaded.

Porsche Crest Euro Sunday

While waiting for company , I downloaded the photos from the last two Euro Sundays now being held at the Northridge Mall after everyone was chased out of the Mall at Topanga and the 101. That's a whole 'nother story.

Reports are that there were several cars vandalized in the same neighborhood. Sheen commented that he felt so safe in the gated community that he leaves his keys in his car while parked at home.
