The Basque coast (France or Spain , either side is equally sweet) or Paris in Europe.
Or almost anywhere in Mexico starting with Oaxaca.

Hmmm. I don't really want to live anywhere else even though I'm sure I could be happy lots of places. I cannot help but wonder how close to the 'Ring you can buy a house. Road Atlanta refused to sell me the property in the infield........

I left in the early 90s, bought property and built a house 300 feet from the Pacific in Costa Rica. Loved it. Came back in 2000 because my wife didn't like it.
If I get to move again I will do more checking into Uraguay, I live in SoCal, 33 degrees north of the equator on the Pacific, Uraguay is 33 degrees south on the Atlantic, just a flop from here. I have been looking into it and really like it from here. 3 million people, 600 miles of coast, 8 million cattle, 500 thousand horses, lots of lakes and rivers, lots of fishing, manny golf courses, the capitol is right across the bay from the capitol of Argentina and not all that far from the capitol of Chili. A real european country in South America. Every person I have talked to that has been there loved it. It can't have more snakes and spiders than Costa Rica, I think I could love it. My Wife???????????

I saw a tv show the other day where they had a couple looking for a property in the Dominican Republic and I found the 3 options interesting. The nicest of the 3 was $125,000 and was very nice. I have also read some info on retirement in Belize which was very interesting. So I ask you all, if circumstances were such that you decided to leave, where would you go? And of course why?
Well, one of my kids lives in Fishers and that might be hard to beat!

But if I had the opportunity I think maybe Italy. Never spent a lot of time there but both my War Dept. and I really liked the Tuscany area or maybe cities such as Siena or Verona. She liked Verona the best.

However, living there and visiting would certainly be quite different things.

Lake Como, Zurich or maybe the Isle of Man.

I actually like it here in the USA and a ranch in the Hill Country of Texas would be my preference.

Best,

Kurt

Scotland, of course.

And as a bonus, it's near the Isle of Man, with no speed limits.

I bought property in the South of France years ago. Recently bought another to live in full time. Why? Better health care (WHO rated #1) with lower cost, no double taxation, can have dual citizenship, non residents can own property with the strongest property laws in Europe, superb infrastructure (very good mass transportation, 220+ MPH trains!), a intelligently designed nuclear power grid, history back to the beginnings of man in Europe (within 1 hour of my place is Greek, Roman, Viking, Cathar, Medieval, Paleolithic sites), fantastic food, great wines, friendly people, low property cost, close to everything else in Europe, mild Mediterranean climate, easy transportation links to everywhere, etc. I have set up dual income streams (dollars and euros) so I will do OK in most cases. Quite pleasant to live in a culture where money isn't the first thing on everyone’s mind. And you can’t beat the women in Monaco, Cannes, St. Tropez!

Thanks, will have to check that out?
What are property prices like? Something close to the ocean with a view?
Any links available?
Cheers!
