Used a mac relational database called Double Helix. Very powerful and fast. Ran the databases on a Mac Plus. The Power Generator one was in 4th Dimension, kinda difficult to manage and program. That's why I moved it to FileMaker. All very powerful and fast relational databases.

My brother ran for State Senate here in Oklahoma. Had the voting records converted from tape to tabbed txt and put an a Mac 400K 3.5 inch floppy. Used a very powerful importing features of a database called FileVision to massage the voting records so it could be sorted by address and made same last names at the same address a Family with new field for family members. The addresses were sorted so you could walk down one side of a block and back up the other. Did the entire district. Don't remember how many records, but it was huge. Exported the Database to files that could be opened on an AppleII using Appleworks to print out the walking lists and address labels for mailing voters. It was 1986. Took the original Mac 24 hours to import/edit/sort and export the entire district.

The current Microsoft Access was originally a Mac only database called FoxBase.

I still consider the best personal computer database FileMaker. It is a subsidiary of Apple but has Both Mac and Pc, and phone versions. Very easy to understand how to use. Several departments where I work use it over Access because of it's ease of use and you can turn on sharing and others can access your data via a web browser.

Warning to the rest of you, more geek speak:

Filemaker was a pretty good system for the average person to work with. Access is a turd compared to what else is out there. MS SQL can get bogged down pretty bad without regular maintenance in my experience in two major deployments. One at a newspaper and the other in EHR/Clinicals software. The db where I worked in CA was a 928GTS speed wise compared to a 924 but with it being proprietary it would be difficult to adapt to software not of their design.

Found out we have a pops concert to attend tonight at 7:30. I would have thought our daughter would have said something since she is in both band and choir. Then again she is a teen girl now.

Yeah, most databases have lost out to SQL variants. Danged web client stuff.

Oracle sucks. I have a IT client that uses it as the backend for proprietary software that runs the company. Company decided not to send me to training, so I get to learn oracle by feel. Oracle support online is cryptic. Finally figured out how to clear archive logs when the "disk space" fills up and the DB crashes and won't start. First time took about three hours to figure out. A year later, two hours. Now, twenty minutes. I know what's happening, but I don't know why.

Evening y'all
Well mother nature is making me think Pete just drove through. Potentially a foot of crap by the time it is done. Saw a number of wadded up vehicles on the way home, and whoda thunk it, all SUV's with soccer moms driving

If your log are full just use an axe and split them and throw them on the rick of wood. Burn when it gets cold.

Not all there today. I put my trash out and checked the mailbox. Not only is the weather sucky and driveway to do those tasks dangerously slick, It's freakin President's Day. They did pick up the trash, but not the recyclables and no mail. Streets drive and sidewalk are dry now.

What's with the white substance covering everything outside? Is this punishment for something? What did we do wrong?

Good Tuesday Morning.

I am back at work.

I am pretty sure there is a committee of people designated to get in my way in traffic. I regularly see a string of traffic merge onto the highway with no effort. Accelerate up to full highway speed and merge right in. It is easy and simple. Somehow I seem to always be right behind the idiot that thinks they should mosey at 10 to 15 MPH to the end of the on ramp and then stop to wait for an opening that is clear for 3/4 of a mile. Today somehow I got in front of the person that was assigned to get in my way.

I figure that since I stayed home yesterday the entire team was out waiting for me in the assigned places but they all crashed on slick roads. I am sure the top pros team will be on call as soon as I leave for lunch. I am sure they are having a meeting right now discussing the strategy on how to get back on track.

Good Morning this fine Mid February day.

As far as all this W*** talk....Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

If you type in an email address incorrectly in Outlook, then send, you have to be very careful because even if you reply to an email with the correct email address, Outlook will use the stored incorrectly typed email address. Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

The problem with adult diapers is there is no way to tell they are full until you remove them, or they start leaking. Again...Aaaaaaaaaaah

If you put a puppies toys in an area where they have accidents, they stop going there. Again...Aaaaaaaaaaaah.

So far my day has been, well...Aaaaaaaaaaah!

So happy we no longer has that cat that poops on the carpet!

I don't think there is a derogatory word strong enough for Oracle. I think they have a great gig charging people for the crap and appearing to fix the crap with their maintenance contract.

But, but, four wheel drive is magic!

Actually, I think it might be because it seems to get them stuck far worse than 2wd does.

The couple times I have visited friends down in Broken Arrow, they ALL merged like that. I thought it was a thing they taught in drivers ed down there.
