Jim, just pay attention to the bottom of the meters here. When they say "Two Cars Per Green", it's okay, they mean it! That's my pet peeve.... The second car that stops after the first.

Good morning folks.

The two ladies that stayed at our house are back in town but they are staying at the house they are cleaning out for the estate sale. They are still finding stuff that has been hidden away for many years. Yesterday my wife called and ask that I come over after I get off work to check out two guns they found. All the knew is one was a pistol and one was a shotgun. The were smart enough not to pull the trigger to see if it was loaded but none of them wanted to touch them long enough to see if they were loaded. The smart thing is they put them aside.

The shotgun was an old hardware store model with a broken stock. It was filthy and had some sort of home made repair around the stock behind the trigger. The good news is it was unloaded.

The pistol was a very small hammerless 38 revolver. The cylinder was loose and it was the type that you had to pull the pin from the middle of the cylinder and the cylinder came out. It was likely a pocket carry piece for someone who carried it a LOT. It was covered in surface rust and very worn out. It really looked like a cheap Saturday night special of the 1940s. The one thing I know about collecting spoons is condition is most important and this one was in bad shape and not worth much of anything. The husband of the lady that inherited knows spoons so he will look at them and sell them as he sees fit. That shotgun is just a wall hangar. The pistol would take a lot of work to make it look decent and I doubt it is worth it.

I've seen single lane and two lane onramps with meters. The two lane ones I have seen have been 2 cars per green. Those ones are the best and so far I've got a pretty good winning record.

I don't believe I've encountered one that staggered the lanes but I could be wrong. I could see it causing lots of aggressive lane jockying on the ramp.

It's been a while since I used the White Oak or Reseda onramps to the 101 but I think those were single lane with 1 or 2 cars per green.

We don't have any metered on ramps around here at all.

My favorite on-ramp is just a couple of miles from my house. It is my favorite if I am in the 911 and the engine is warmed up. It is real short and is a S curve and a tight final curve. The 911 makes it fun. The speed limit is 70 on the interstate and traffic is usually moving at 75.

In the Elky it is a push through the corners and floor it and run hard to 70 to merge.

I always figured someone with a sports car engineered that on-ramp. There is room to make the ramp longer and straighter but they chose to make it short and curvy.

Back when I had my 90 928 GT was taking my older brother to lunch. Not far from the office he made to comment that all the cars I've owned were hot rods, (not true). About that time I came on a merging ramp on an interchange. The traffic in my lane was stopped. When it was my turn I noticed a space just big enough for me. I nailed it and the 928 accelerated smartly into the spot going from 0-60 with space to spare. My brother stopped talking mid-sentencee. I just made the comment, "That's why I like having a little horsepower." He never made a comment about me only driving hot rods again.

This was one of the best sounding cars I've ever owned. Accelerating up thru the gears would raise the hairs on the back of my neck and give me goose bumps it just sounded so musical.

There hasn't been an on or off ramp I haven't loved in the Cobra. Though sometimes I have had to get on the brakes pretty hard while merging so as not to rear end the traffic on the interstate. The tires could handle another 85hp/75lb-ft of torque easy enough. That thing just hooks up.
