Good morning everyone.

My coffee is in hand and it is good.

I see the news reports of Boston and I feel bad about complaining about a possible inch of S*** in our forecast. Screw them Yankees I will still complain about it..

I just can't even fathom 7 or 8 feet of snow.

It is weird that they can't dump the snow in the harbor. I know there is salt and crud in the snow but it is a salt water ocean. When the snow melts it will run off into the ocean and take all most of the crud with it. It does not make sense.

Just walk outside and you can experience it.

Back in the days just before I married my wife we took a vacation to Colorado in the summer. We went through Wolf Creek pass and stopped at the resort just to look around. With no snow on the ground it looks funny. Everything is jacked up on stilts like it is ready for a flood.

Later after we were married we went back to ski. They had a "good snow pack" an it was crazy. We had to go down into a snow tunnel to get into the ski shop. It was a total transformation. The powder was knee deep and as a beginner skier it was hell if I had to stop and then get going again. I really can't imagine that much snow in a major city.

Anyone seen the sky prowler drone on kick starter? It converts, mid air, from a quad copter to a twin prop driven fixed wing. They're saying it'll have voice control, hit 83mph and have about 30 minutes battery life!

Skyprowler looks good.

I still wonder...back when I was really into R/C planes one of the magazines started a contest for plane design. You had to use a .40 size motor. You got 5 points for every mph under 25mph it could fly controllably (hover being best case) and 1 point for every mph over 25 mph. They were obviously looking for a design that would hover and then fly as fast as possible.

The deadline was 1 year to submit your design with a video showing the slowest and fastest speeds. During the next months several aerospace companies got involved and the prize for the winning design got up to $25,000. The magazine even had articles featuring a couple of entries including one from full size airplane designer Burt Rutan.

Then at about 9 months the contest just disappeared. It was like it never existed. I've always wondered what someone came up with that was so good it killed the contest.

Nice and sunny here today. Great day for a walk other than the -5*F temp.

Yikes. That will put a spring in your step and motivate you to get back inside.

The lowest temperature ever measured in Oklahoma City was in 1899, the mercury dropped down to -17 degrees.

In 2010 the state set a record of -31 up in the far NE part of the state. It was -9 in OKC that day. That is the coldest I remember. Below zero is very rare for us.

This is our high temp today. Woo hoo.

On that note, we don't have much snow left on the ground and nothing coming for a bit so we have clear roads and walks.

My neighbors have had this huge, stupid, wooden swing thing sitting in their driveway half assembled for a week.....looks like a friggin trailer park instead of a private beach front community....the swing looks like it would burn really well if I hacked it into pieces small enough to fit the fireplace

That's as far as they could get without reading the instructions.

There is a part missing, waiting for IKEA to ship another one.

The instructions blew away.

They argued over which part is part D and which bag of screws is F, and it is a Mexican standoff as to whom will finish it.

They realized they don't have anywhere to put it.

They realized it wouldn't fit in the bedroom.

Dad smashed his thumb and the son hasn't come over to finish it yet.

They realized they exceed the weight limit.

It's not a trailer park unless there is at least one non-working appliance in the yard or on the porch and at least one neighbor drives a Pontiac Trans Am. Those are the rules.
