So, what's best...

Coil mattress, air mattress, foam mattress, or waterbed?

Way past time to replace my mattress. Have plywood between the mattress and box springs to keep it from having a big sink hole in the middle. Has even been flipped over because of broken springs.

Newest mattress in my house is on what is now my guest bed. My brother got it for Mom 10 years ago when he was bulk buying hotel mattresses for the training center our company owned. Hard as a rock even with the "pillow" top. Mom wouldn't let me change it because my older brother got it for her even though she was having back problems because of it.

Have a friend that after trying the air and foam stuff got a waterbed. He and his wife love it.

Had a waterbed years ago, but back then could have slept on a gravel road. It didn't have any baffles so had a LOT of motion in the ocean. Got rid of it when the heater died and I almost froze to death in my sleep.

Back when I had the waterbed I thought the ultimate would be a waterbed with an air mattress top. Thought it would be like sleeping on an air mattress in a pool, lake, etc. and the temp of the water would not have such a direct effect. Don't seem to find anything like that on the market.

Good Monday Morning all.

And to answer Pete's question, compared to your wake up times I sleep in virtually every day. Most days my alarm clock (actually the wife's iPad) wakes me up at 7:15. I feed the boy dog, (the female dog waits for Mrs. Carrera to feed her breakfast) read hte paper and eat my breakfast. I mosey into my home office at 8:00

We were up before 4:00 Saturday to go to the diner for breakfast so we could be in the fields before sunrise. It was a good plan had it not been raining/sleeting/snowing until 10:00. Nothing was moving.

Bedtime varies from 8:00pm to 3:00am for me. I always have to get up the same time during the week though.

My new video card came in. It is huge. Two slots wide and two additional power plugs to suck power. I am going to rerun a project that took over 24 hours without the card. I will know tomorrow how much faster it runs.

Took Pepper to the groomer's today. Before we left went to the back yard pointed at a grassy spot and said, "Do your stuff so we can go for a ride." She did exactly were I was pointing. Then as she was walking back I said, "Have you got to do number 6." And pointed in the same direction. She went back, walked around in a couple of circles, and did the poop squat instead of the pee squat." Then came running, excited to go for a ride.

Vet is next door to her groomer. Got a quick free checkup after getting groomed. She weighed 90 lbs. Asked vet if she was overweight. Told me not at all, just a big dog. Kinda odd since both her Dam and Sire were 60 lb. dogs.

Sat a chatted with the vet for a while (he used to have a Targa and now has a Boxster). While sitting there 3 other customer's came in to get various doggie drugs for their dogs and a delivery guy. Pepper got excited when they came in, but stayed sitting next to me and said Hello to them when I asked her to. Cheated a little I had some Chicken Jerky I treated her with for being good.

On the way home from the vet went to a Pet Supply Store across from the grocery store. When I walked in the cashier remembered me and the video of Pepper saying hello. Asked if I had Pepper with me. Had to bring Pepper in so everyone could hear her say hello in person. Pepper got pretty excited but actually behaved really well and didn't jump up on anyone or push them over trying to rub against them like a cat. She just went from person to person to person to get attention. And said hello back very clearly when one of the girls said hello.

Like every trip to the groomer's she has been crashed out since we go home this afternoon. It was a big day for Pepper.

Think I will inquire about the local Golden Retriever Club's training classes. Saw on the web they have like seven different class. Start out with basic obedience. Also gun dog/hunting, service, therapy, and agility. And obedience goes up thru obedience competitions. It's $107 per class that lasts 7 weeks. Think it will be good for her to train around other dogs and people to help her get over the new people excitement. Think it also helps if they see how they are supposed to behave.

Morning all.

I got the new card working it's little GPU heart out. It is running at 112 degrees up to 150 during certain operations like doing the point cloud or building the DSM. I am waiting to compare the time it takes to run the project with and without it. It sure seems like a lot faster. THe quality report the program generated will have the times needed for each step.

Greetings and Salutations.

Yes, this is the official week of Thankfulness here in the States.
Will probably have to go around the table between turkey and dessert and tell what we are thankful for. One year I said I was thankful for the 1986 Buick Skylark because it was roomy, comfortable, and stylish. Didn't have or get one, was just thankful for them.

Saw one of my back fence neighbors at lunch today. Actually he is my half brother's brother-in-law. Anyway, asked if he had been hearing the great horned owls hooting in the cottonwood tree in my back yard the past month just after dark. He said he thought it was dove.

Grrrrr.

The new little computer we bought is 7x7 and 1.5 inches thick. It has 4 USB 3 ports, two Display ports, network port and built in wi-fi and of course the power connector. So the display has to be be display port. No big deal my monitor will take display port, mini display port and HDMI. I have me main computer plugged into the display port and the old computer into the HDMI. No sweat, I will plug the mini computer into the mini-display port connector.

I look on-line and Staples says they have them in stock. That is a lie. They do have an adapter from full DP the mini DP, but the adapter and the cable is almost $80!!!

Nope, not gonna do that. So off to Office Depot. They only have one DP to HDMI adapter, so off to a local computer store. Nope. Screw it, back to the house.

Amazon has a 6 foot DP to mini DP for 11.88 delivered to the door. Bingo.

SO for now I have the mini sitting on top of the full size tower and just move the cable from one to the other.

Of course it is a new installation of Win10 Pro. All pre-installed, just set it up. Microsoft will not me past the screen for Microsoft ID or Skype ID. So I feed it a BS ID and go on.

All the bloat ware is now removed. Likely gonna order another computer today or tomorrow.

Was only really impressed by one computer I ever purchased. It was an Apple Performa 6400 VEE. It was one of the first computers to come with a video card and everything else you needed to digitize and edit video. Hey, it even did S video.

Anyway, what really impressed me is when you opened the box. First thing you saw as a sheet of paper filling the whole top of the box that showed step bay step own to unpack the computer, set it up, and plug everything it. The illustrations were so good it didn't even have text. The last step was turning the power on.

When the computer booted up, instead of all the login and setup screens a girl walked out onto the screen and literally walked and pointed to everything to setup and start using the computer. Starting with the mouse and how to use it! She even showed you how to go to the menu and click on help if you got stuck. Selecting help, she would walk out onto the screen and help with whatever you last tired to do. And they had her video help available for not just operating the mouse, keyboard, user interface, but every piece of software on the computer including word, spreadsheet, database, graphics, and video editor.

All you needed to completely operate everything on the computer was to be able to understand English.
Which on second thought still might not work.
