I upgraded my iphone 4 (non-S) this afternoon and speed isn't appreciably different. It's still slow.

Do Not Disturb feature was worth it alone. Stupid that Blackberry had it 4 years ago and they're just now seeing a need.
Backup your phone first, get ready to resync all your music/apps etc. Apples arrogance astounds me.

I did. Not an issue. I think it runs faster. Maps is fine if you have specific requests. Siri is better. Pano pix are cool.

I just upgraded last weekend from a 3GS to a 4GS and did the 6.0 seems fine to me, battery life still sucks even with location services turned off.
Do not Disturb=Settings, forth item down. It has a nice feature that if someone calls twice in so many minutes it rings, (Emergency).

I have just a 4. I upgraded and really don't see much difference except the maps and the new features. Same speed and battery life as far as I can tell.

My iPhone 4S seems to run at about the same speed. I must be a bit eccentric, but I really like the new Apple Maps. LOVE flying around stuff in 3D. The directions and turn by turn work great. Very happy.

I just upgraded my 3 year old Samsung Galaxy from Android 2.1 to 4.1.1. Blown away by how much faster it is. Of course its a custom ROM so it took me all of 4 minutes (3.5 minutes to download) to upgrade and it's devoid of all ATT apps. Loving it so far. Might put off a phone upgrade for another year...

OK, I just opened the map for first time. Apparently google maps has been replaced on phone with their own app, which is very, very cool. Yes.

Under Settings, there's a switch to manually turn it on and off. Right under that in Notifications, you can customize it.

I didn't notice too much difference for the few days that I had my 4 running ios6.
However, Apple's new maps are pretty frustrating. It hasn't been finding things as well as google maps did, and overall it has been incredibly slow when to refresh maps, do new searches, etc. In addition, I now have to incorporate a secondary app when trying to get transit directions. So far I am definitely missing Google. Hopefully apple is working hard at improving their maps. I will admit that th 3D satellite views are pretty sweet. |

Just go to maps.google.com and select the "add to home screen" action. You'll get the exact same Google maps as before.

I went to IOS6 on my iphone 4 (nonS). Later that afternoon I got a Galaxy S3 android. I feel like shackles have been removed!
There are somethings that apple does really well on the Iphone ...but i think it's just a matter of getting used to it. The wife just got an Iphone 5.....same as a 4 really. No appreciable difference. And despite the commercials...Siri is awful.

The two primary things I use my phone for, besides the phone, are e-mail and traffic maps.
I use the Google maps traffic feature to route around slowdown on the highways. The Apple map software blows in this respect. You can use the web-based version of Google-maps mobile, but it loses all settings each time you quit the browser. This also blows. I wish I hadn't upgraded. I am presently using my Samsung Android Tablet in the car with a hotspot to use the native google maps application. Better than the iPhone application. Siri is not improved and still does not work in the car, which is where I need it. Surprisingly, Iris (Google's answer to Siri) does work.

Here's a tip. Before you click "add to home screen," activate what they call "app mode." This allows the application to run fill screen, without the browser buttons. Here's a link with more info: Make Web Apps Look More Native With The AppMode Bookmarklet -- AppAdvice If you want even more info, do a Google search on iPhone bookmarklets. They are little snippets of java code that runs in the browser, accomplishing some neat little trick.

Strange comments
Siri works awesome for me - use her constantly. Great improvements on network availability and the types of commands she now understands. Now I can say, " Siri, text my wife and tell her to pick up milk." Siri says texting wife 'pick up milk'. Siri used to say, texting wife "and tell her to pick up milk." Very natural method of using voice commands. Don't understand how you can say the 5 is same as a 4? The 5 absolutely flies. Everything is better. Screen is better 16:9, more ram, processor is fantastic, wifi reception is improved, wifi simply works better, LTE is the fastest internet I have personally ever used, thinner, lighter, camera action is faster, panoramic feature is very cool, calls sound better on both ends of the conversation, background noise is improved, the phone is louder (my favorite improvement as I can't hear very well these days), the new connector is much easier to use - no more pinching to remove and (knock on wood) zero dropped calls to date. While the 5 is still the familiar iPhone, it is better then its predecessors in every way.
